Distortion
I like the songs but the sound. What a mess! Why do productions nowaday have to push the limiter to extremes. It sounds so bad. What is this obssession with loudness? How about some subtlety. I am so disappointed, especially with the long anticipated return of N'Dea. Surely to god they could have lsitened to it on a good system? This seems to be happening a lot to many dance orientated acts...perhaps it is pressure from the record company or the attempts to keep up with the Jones...but it ain't funky. Lets have a remix...NOW
They're back together again (with N'Dea) !
As a long-time BNH fan I was sad to hear N'Dea Davenport had left the band back in the mid 90's and thought this would be the end of an era.....but lo and behold, they're back together again after all this time and you know what - it's a pretty damn good album ! Don't expect Brother Sister part 2 just yet though - this is the heavies updating their jazzy, funky, soulful sound for the new millenium.
Overall it's a mix of funky r'n b (Get Used To It, We Won't Stop, Music, I Just Realised) and more classic sounding BNH funkiness (Sex God, Let's Do It Again, Right On, All Fired Up). Then there's the classic soul vibe of I Don't Know Why (I Love You) which is the lead single.
All in all it's a suprising and very welcome return to form for my favourite feel-good/party band.........we've missed you N'Dea !
P.S. saw them live recently and they can still funk it up !
BNH shows bounce-back-ability!
To be honest, I stopped following BNH after the previous album let me down really bad. but one day i was browsing through cds in a store and i saw this particular cd. the first thing i noticed was the formation of the band. I said to myself "N'DEA???? NO WAY!!!!".
But fact is... WAY...
Everything falls into place when ndea sings for BNH. all those days of BNH glory seems to come back. The songs in this album are really solid. The song that really stood out and remind me of BNH so well is "Right On".
One phrase in Right On says it all...:
"BRING BACK THE FUNKY MUSIC..."
Godspeed BNH!
