The Goo Goo Dolls' transformation from thrashy alternative rockers to polished mainstream pop-rock stars was complete by the early 1990s, so it's no surprise that 2006's LET LOVE IN continues the sound that brought the band their greatest commercial success. In fact, LET LOVE IN is the group's cleanest and slickest effort, packed front to back with melodic,mid-tempo, and ballad-oriented MOR rock that borders at times on adult contemporary pop.
Thanks in large part to theproduction of Glen Ballard (who has produced Alanis Morissette and the Dave Matthews Band) there are few of the Goo GooDolls' original edges left. Yet this shouldn't bother fans who came to love the band after albums like A BOY NAMED GOO.The pleasant, well-crafted music here should please fans ofany style of mainstream rock that's not too hard on the ears.

A Brilliant album: their best yet!
There are alway going to be divides between Goo Goo Dolls fans when it comes to deciding if an album is good or bad. It's hardly surprising given that they are a band that has been around for more than twenty years with such a breadth of musical ability and whose sound has varied so much. That there can be disagreement is a positive sign that the music develops, and their sound has changed.
That said, my personal opinion os that this is the best Goo Goo Dolls album to date (and here's to hope their next release is even better). They have done nothing but improve from album to album, and this one does not buck the trend.
It all depends on what kind of sound you like and expect from this band. If you loved the somewhat harsher and less 'polished' rock sound of the earlier albums dominated by Takac's writing and vocals, chances are, you will not love this album. If, however, you prefer the softer (and undeniably more commerical) sound of John Rzezniks work (the most famous, of course, being Iris) you with love this album.
This album goes from strength to strength, every song as strong as the one before it; choosing a favourite track is near enough impossible as each song is just so good. All in all, I suggest to anyone and everyone who likes any kind of rock music to listen to this album, because here are a band very much under-appreciated in the UK.
Simply fantastic!
I bought this album on the strength of just one song, the fantastic Iris, 18 months ago and it has barely been out of my CD player since! I can't say there is a weak song on it and I also love Give a Little Bit, Stay With You, Better Days, Without You Here, Can't Let It Go.....well, the whole album in fact! I then bought Dizzy Up the Girl a Few Months Ago but have barely played it because I keep going back to Let Love In....it seems to be very good so I should give it a few more listens if I can tear myself away from this one!
