    Getting there...4
My son, aged 9, received this for his birthday. None of the family had previous experience of MP3 players and I spent a long time trying to download two of his CDs. After phoning three techie friends I was no better off... I eventually traced the problem to the download menu which asks you about removing protection before recording CDs. My fault - I had not removed this facility.
The player then proved a doddle to use although I downloaded via Windows media player. I fully endorse other reviewers who say the instruction book is useless. Bin it straightaway - I can't see how anyone allowed this to get past quality control. It really doesn't help at all and there are so many pages of irrelevant text that anyone (let alone a 9 year old) would give up the will to live...
This is the only drawback to the player: otherwise, it's great value and my son is delighted with it.
I'm now thinking of getting one for when I go cycling!

    My first MP3 player.4
I'd consider myself a bit of a technophobe and this is my first MP3 player. I wanted something cheap to take on holiday and also to use when jogging.

It looks good and the sound quality is excellent. Although I've neevr heard an Ipod so can't compare. I've managed to download my iTunes stuff onto it with no problems. Think it should hold approx 150 music tracks which is plenty for me. I find it easy to use even without reading the instruction book. I like the fact if you switch it off, when you put it back on it will start where you left off.

My one small grumble (which may not bother some people at all) is the fact that there is no clip to put it on a waist band/jumper. It is small enough to slip in a jean pocket. But when running and you have no pockets it could be a problem for some people. If you're a girl like me you can stick it behind your bra strap! Blokes may struggle!

Got off on the wrong foot - but now I'm in love...4
My first MP3 player, having been sorely tempted by an ipod, I bought this one, (saving nearly £100) on the strength of the reviews. I love it now, but nearly threw it in the bin with frustration on the first day - couldn't get it to play anything except the supplied (really annoying) track. The instruction book is rubbish, no help at all. One of the reviews mentioned reformatting through Windows, worked out how to do that and - bingo - it worked. Now I absolutely love it, (actually I got the red one, soooo cute and matches my mobile..!)it's really easy to use, looks great, good sound quality and enough memory for me - although some might find it limiting. My only reservation regards the instruction book - why do manufacturers not think this is important? - otherwise I really recommend it, instead of that ipod get one of these in every colour and you'll still save money!
