Exactly what it says on the tin.5
This adaptor will allow you to use a Playstation 2 gamepad on your PC. I've been using it to play Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and it makes it so much more fun.
However, even better, you can also hook it up to your Playstation 3 and use your PS2 pad on that. It even supports rumble. :)

As long as you know what you are getting than this is a great buy.

Does what it says on the tin5
Brilliant. Although it came with a driver disk. If you have XP (SP2) then just plug in the adapter and plug in a PS2 Game pad. XP recognised it right away as USB Gamepad. Works flawlessly and is obviously a more sensible choice than any PC Gamepad that tries to be a PS2 pad, cos we all know they're never as good as the real thing. At £5.99... essential for any PC gamer.

Works 100% under Linux, works with Guitar Hero Controller4
This is not that pictured, but a newer model. Despite the packaging saying it's for the PS3, it works fine on my PC running Linux. You may have to tap the 'Analog' button on the controller to stop the lights flashing on the adapter and enable it.

Button numbering is slightly weird. To save you the trouble, it's as follows:

0 - Select
1- L3 (pushing the left analog stick in)
2 - R3
3 - Start
4 - Up (on D-pad)
5 - Right
6 - Down
7 - Left
8 - L2
9 - R2
10 - L1
11 - R1
12 - Triangle
13 - Circle
14 - X
15 - Square

The analog axes are

0 - left stick left-right
1 - left stick up-down
2 - right stick left-right
3 - right stick up-down
8-21 - pressure-sensitive buttons, numbers 4 higher than for digital buttons, eg X is button 14 and axis 18

It also works with the Guitar Hero controller (though I say nothing for the PC version of the game itself). For that, the buttons are:

8 - green
10 - red
11 - yellow
9 - blue
14 - orange
6 - strum down
4 - strum up
0 - select
3 - start
axis 1 - whammy bar

There is, however, one snag - the physical design of the adapter means the Guitar Hero wireless receiver can't plug in properly. It connects, but not snugly. That's why this doesn't get 5 stars.

Also, a few games have a limit on button number. That's a problem with the game not this product, but means you can't play them with the controller.

Overall: Works great and good price.
