Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
Julio Iglesias--he of the endearing Latin accent, endless-summer suntan, and stunning charisma--could make "Mary Had a Little Lamb" sound sexy, so it's no surprise that the selections here smoulder with the approximate heat of high noon in his native Madrid. What may be surprising to longtime listeners, though, is the range of songs he chose to cover. While "It's Impossible," the Perry Como hit with the famously pretty-sad melody, comes across an obvious choice and benefits from a swooning yet sure-footed performance, two Foreigner classics, "I Want to Know What Love Is" and "Waiting for a Girl Like You," seem somehow beneath our debonair ladykiller. Still, smothered by his signature passion, they play like entirely new songs--less earnest and searching, more insistent and sweet. Such is the case with Richard Marx's "Right Here Waiting" and, to some extent, the Cars' "Drive"; instead of sounding like lite-FM retreads, they become heated extensions of his Julio-ness. Older hits--"This Guy's in Love with You," "The Most Beautiful Girl"--benefit from a certain effortlessness; these are numbers pre-dipped in the knee-weakening romance Julio specializes in. Overall, it's a modern/classic commingling that proves what millions of women worldwide have suspected for decades: where practitioners of pulse-quickening, fantasy-fueling vocals are concerned, there is no equal. --Tammy La Gorce

WOW !5
I got into Julio Iglesias a couple of years ago after being in Spain. This is the man at his romantic best. You want a recording for a candle light dinner for two ? ... this is it. Buy, you WONT be disappointed.

This is my christmas present5
I was at this music store in Colombo and I heard this familiar voice on the song they were playing. I wanted them to play the rest of the songs as well (well not the whole songs but the beginning bits) the songs only kept getting better. so I told them to reserve it so that my wife could get it for me as a christmas gift. She also told me that she got me one more CD for christmas I am waiting impatiently till Christmas to play these songs over and over plus the other which is a total surprise..

THE UNIVERSAL VOICE5
Romantic Classics is the first English language album from Julio Iglesias since 1994's Crazy. For this album Julio has drawn from the worlds of pop, rock and country music to record his sublime interpretations of songs originally performed by a diverse range of artists including Willie Nelson, George Michael, the Bee Gees and The Cars.
Recorded in Los Angeles and Punta Cana with producers Albert Hammond and Robert Buchanan, Romantic Classics showcases Iglesias and a small sympathetic ensemble performing 11 best-loved songs from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Guest artists on the album include Grammy winning trumpeter, and Columbia Records labelmate, Chris Botti (on Iglesias' smoky version of Herb Alpert's "This Guy's In Love With You") and saxophonist Dave Koz (on a spellbinding rendering of George Michael's "Careless Whisper").
