Amazon.co.uk Review
Not many could have anticipated the colossal success of the 2004 debut album Sanctuary, that catapulted Blue's Simon Webbe to the upper echelons of the UK urban-pop scene. With his follow-up, Grace, Webbe seeks to consolidate his spot at the top. Like its predecessor, Grace brims with uplifting, soulful pop sounds, acoustic folk influences and contemporary R&B. Headed up by the happy-go-lucky single "Coming Around Again", the album offers a slightly more urbane approach, aiming for an audience that likes fairly saccharine MOR soul and Lighthouse Family style music. However, forays into mawkish sentimentality – "Sunshine (Love Like That)", "Angel" – are balanced by decent ballads such as "Go To Sleep" and catchy blues-fuelled songs like "Ain't True To Yourself". Despite Webbe's fairly limited emotional range, there's enough strong material here to convince that he might just deserve his guru status.--Danny McKenna
CD Description
'Grace' is the sophomore effort from former Blue member Simon Webbe. Pop R'n'B has rarely sounded as smooth as this, and the crisp production on this album is sure to position Webbe alongside the UK's other big talents in this field, Lemarand Craig David. Includes the single 'My Soul Pleads For You'.

Grace Review
If you love Sanctuary you'll love this album!!! There are some real gems on this album, 6 0r 7 I would say.
Standout tracks for me are'Grace'....'Sunshine'(even my Dad loves it!!) and 'Seventeen.' Like Sanctuary the album loses it's way slightly.
Around track 8 there are a couple of weird songs where Simons vocals get a bit exposed...songs like 'My soul pleads for you' and 'That's the way it goes' are a bit weak...but hold on coz 'Grace' will cheer you up at
the end!!
On the whole, I would definately recommend this album, it's not that often you get an album when 6 or 7 tracks could be singles. Keep it up Si!! xxxx

The Blue Boy goes from strength to strength proving there is much to this reclusive but clearly gifted singer song writer. There is much to commend on this album and Simon takes his vocals and song wrting to the next level. It is hard to pick a favourite track as the album is so complete. I think those tracks which clearly aren't for release Angel, My Soul Pleads, Fool for you actually help to give the album its depth as they give you time to listen to Simon's voice and (at last) to hear some raw emotion. This is an accomplished follow up Album with shades of Seal, Sting, (my soul pleads for you sounding a bit like englishman in new york) Desree and Gabrielle. It is good to have a black uk male artist opereating outside the traditional Rnb box and drawing on their folk and gospel roots. Choosing a following up single to Coming Around which to my mind stands seperate from the rest of the album is going to be hard. But the last track Grace is a good contender. Let's hope his record company release monre singles from the album and give this artist the profile that his talents clearly deserve. PS Simon does need to liven his presence in interviews he comes across as stiff awkward and one dimensional which by his music is clearly not the case. Hopefully the success of Sanctuary and Grace will give him the confidence to reveal a little bit more of himself. He is a stand alone solo artist in his own right and he does not have to hide behind the rest of the boys in Blue any more. Mr Webbe it's time you took centre stage. By the way where are they now?
A More Mature/Gospel Feel When Compared to Sanctuary
Well I have to agree with the person below that there are about 7 tracks that are quite impressive. I most definitely have to disagree that his vocals make "My Soul Pleads For You" and "That's The Way It Goes" sound wierd...these are the most impressive songs vocally in my mind. I think these are the songs that set this album apart from the first. Simon finally does not hold back and shows more emotion, he finally proves that he was a credible vocalist in Blue. He seemed to hold back in the 1st album in a majority of the songs, which wasn't surprising since it was his debut and most artists tend to play it safe. So overall I have to say if he needed to improve, "Angel (My Life Began With You" and "Fool For You" would be the 2 songs that were kind of bland in my mind; he could have filled them in with some more original tunes. Overall, the album is a great sophomore disc, which is more uplifting than his first beacuse of a more predominant gospel influence.
