As Good as it Gets!5
Having attended the concert earlier in the year it was a pleasure to see it so brilliantly recorded on DVD. It was a pleasure to watch - almost like being there! The extras on the DVD are a real bonus. I went for the two disk set B000IZJ3LY. This gives a 17 track DVD and a 14 track CD.

Musical excellence!5
What can I say, this is just great! bought it this afternoon, got into the car and put the CD in and had the best drive home ever! Knopfler is my 'Local Hero', he just can do no wrong!!

Great great version of So Far Away, worth it for that alone!

well worth a 5 star rating! Love it!

Like a fine wine...5
...Mark Knopfler gets better with age.
Having been a huge Dire Straits fan when I was younger, I was gutted when they broke up and only in recent years did I discover Knopfler's solo material from 'Golden Heart' onwards. And it's great. His vocals have improved (apparently since he stopped smoking), the songwriting and lyrics are even better, and his guitar playing is more subtle yet more tasteful than it's ever been. I only say this because commercially, at least compared to Dire Straits in their heyday, Mark Knopfler seems to fly under the radar. The many people who dismiss or aren't aware of his solo work are really missing out. You can consider that a public service announcement :o)

On to the DVD then. It certainly doesn't disappoint. Of course this DVD is loosely based on the duet album 'All the Roadrunning' with Emmylou Harris and many of the songs on the DVD are from this album, but it's nice that there are also a few Emmylou songs and a few of Knopfler's own, oh and a few nicely reworked Dire Straits songs too. The rest of the band are absolutely superb and most have played with Knopfler for a number of years now, including Guy Fletcher of course! Despite all being consumate professionals there's a bit of banter here and there and they all look like they're enjoying themselves, which is great to see. The picture and sound quality on the disk is superb and because it's filmed live, but in quite an intimate setting, it almost feels like really being at the gig.

There are some extras, interviews and the likes, but to my shame I haven't watched them yet because every time this DVD is put in the player I can't help but watch the main concert! 5 Stars from me, Mark Knopfler can do no wrong.
