Manufacturer's Description
Ambisound for full no-fuss multichannel surround sound

By positioning independent drivers at precise angles, a powerful multi-channel surround sound is produced and experienced in any room shape and size.
HDMI 1080i with high definition video upscaling
HDMI stands for High Definition Multimedia Interface. It is a direct digital connection that can carry digital HD video as well as digital multichannel audio. MP3 Line-in uses Plug and Play technology that allows direct playback of MP3 content via the home theatre system by simply plugging your portable MP3 player into the built-in headphone jack. Now you can enjoy the superb sound quality of the Philips Home Theatre System while playing your favourite music from your portable MP3 player.

No disc error
Like many others we have had issues with the machine saying no disc, and not playing DVD's, sent for repair - worked for a while. Had New unit, Now stopped again. When works is great! Mine no longer plays any DVD's so only have as a speaker system - not exactly what i paid for! Some people are suggested downloading new software upgrade, you can find this on the phillips website, look under queries and then type in model number, and the on the left hand side there is a list of options one is firmware/software upgrade. To do this you will need to download onto your PC then copy to a dvd disc and use to upgrade your machine. Hope it helps.
Ruddy Useless Thing
Just like so many others I have had problems with mine since basically day one. Awful machine this is. Very slow and sluggish at doing things and now saying NO DISC like so many others. This is the worst bit of kit I have bought in a very long time. I own Philips 48" Ambilight TV, Philips HD Recorder and this thing. The DVD HD recorder is not much better because discs get jammed all the time. Over the past few years I have spent £1000's on Philips stuff. NO MORE I TELL YOU. Would never buy Philips again FACT! DO NOT BUY THIS RUBBISH. Philips are supposed to "make things better". I beg to differ. This thing cost me over 300 quid not so long ago and is now only fit for the bin. DO NOT BUY THIS UNLESS YOU ARE REALLY REALLY SILLY. I have to add that this has not been the only fault with this. Also would not accept remote commands from the remote, would not change settings on the machine itself i.e. changing from DVD to radio etc. Just absolute rubbish. If you buy one, don't say you have not been warned!
NO DISC
Another "No Disc" problem with mine. Went for repair once, came back, worked great for a few months, now we have the same problem again. Contacted Philips and all they do is send out questionnaires as to how well they have dealt with my problem, when all they do is ignore my emails!!
Annoying thing is, the sound from the system is fantastic, we've got our Sky HD going through it and it's great. If you just want it for the sound, buy it, if not, try something else.
