refreshing new stuff
every incubus album is on slightly different tone, and this is no exception. If you've got all their previous albums, now's no time to stop!

PURE BRILLIANCE!
Never has a band just kept on producing outstanding album after album. Incubus keep on pushing the boundaries. Not one of their albums(or songs for that matter) resemble any of their other material. Every album has a different energy and style, and this group of 5 exceptionally talented musicians pull it off effortlessly. Light Grenades offers such an eclectic mix of tracks, the title track being all-out energy, down to the sweet sounds of Dig and Love Hurts. The only let of this album is the duration, why couldn't they have made it longer? nevermind. they never fail to impress.

Where are we going?
On Light Grenades, Incubus abandon the progress they made with producer Scott Litt, and offer the thunderous crashing of guitars, drums, and Brandon Boyd's yelling, but to an unsatisfying effect. It begins impressively, with the Radiohead-like "Quicksand" cleverly transcending into "Kiss To Send Us Off". The emotion and maturity of "Dig" harks back to the days of 2001's Morning View, as does "Anna Molly", the first single, which booms into a catchy riff. From here, however, the band lose their focus with heavy rock on the title track and others such as "Rogues", and the pithy sentimentality on "Love Hurts" and "Earth to Bella" is taken too serious by Boyd to have any meaning. They may be enjoying what they're doing on Light Grenades, but for the ear, its an unremarkable, messy experience which fails to build on its promising start.
