Amazon.co.uk Review
Ever since they trounced rival boy band One True Voice in the 2002 final of Popstars (The Rivals), Girls Aloud have gone from strength to strength, blasting their way into the charts with every new release, even trashing The Spice Girl's record of 10 Top Ten singles with their own new record of 12 (and counting). The time is thus ripe for a Best Of anthology, which is exactly what The Sound Of Girls Aloud is. Raiding the quintet's three albums to date (Sound Of The Underground, What Will The Neighbours Say? and Chemistry) the collection offers all twelve of the band's chart-smashes to date, from early, breakthrough tracks (the surf-guitar-riding "Sound Of The Underground" and the wannabe spy-movie theme "No Good Advice"), their cover versions (of the Pointer Sister's "Jump" and The Pretender's ballad "I'll Stand By You", and other GA faves like "Love Machine", "Long Hot Summer", "Biology", "The Show" and "Whole Lotta History". There are four new tracks, including the catchy new single, "Something Kinda Ooooh", and the Limited Edition version features demo versions of "See The Day" and "Biology" and additional unreleased material. -- Danny McKenna

Poptastic
I will admit I was originally determined to hate Girls Aloud because I am against reality TV shows but song after song I found myself unable to stop listening. Now I am a huge fan and bought the Greatest Hits as I had not previously bought a Girls Aloud album. Every track makes me want to dance and sing into my hairdryer. My personal favourite are Long Hot Summer, Wake Me Up, Something Kinda Ooh and the unreleased track Money with it's hilarious lyrics. The girls lyrics are undeniably witty and sharp and nothing if not bold on all of their singles.
I play this CD whenever I am getting ready for a night out, Something Kinda Ooh is always the final track I play as it is my favourite party mood song. I have also found myself beginning to like some of the songs I wasn't into the first time such as Biology and the slower songs like History and Life Got Cold. I also really like the covers of Stand By You and See The Day.
I agree with the reviewer below, Nicola should definately feature more, her plaintive vocals (Hello, Did you here me) on Whole Lotta History are amazing.
Classy pop!
Yes they're as manufactured as a plastic bag but the team behind them write good songs and give good results. The girls may be puppets but their vocals are up to the mark and the songs are well turned so they hit the mark most times. I'm not so keen on all the cover versions and saccharin moments here but product is what they're about, and also the image to gloss the doughnut. This is a fun cd full of pop giggles and there are times when that's all pop needs to be.
absoloutely AMAZING!
This album is an definate must have jam packed full of girls aloud's greatest hits. Its a bargain that you won't regret for £6!!! i definately recommend it i have been playing this since christmas 2006 and still love it!
