Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
G4 have certainly come a long way since their days as London buskers and classical music students. With two highly-praised albums behind them (containing remarkable versions of songs like "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Everybody Hurts" and "You're the Voice", and classical covers that run from "Nessun Dorma" to "La Donna E Mobile"), the charismatic quartet known now deliver a third album of vocal showpieces. Once again they approach a quite dizzying array of songs – from Queen's "Somebody to Love" and the Boomtown Rats' "I Don't Like Mondays" to "Volare" and "Amazing Grace" - with impeccable confidence and a sense of stylish perfection. Act 3 contains several potential 2006 Xmas anthems, including a sublime rendition of "Silent Night", and the choice of songs, wonderful harmonizing and captivating arrangements (two tracks have been recorded with a big band) indicate a slightly more mature direction for the band in general.--Danny McKenna

Act Three 5
Having listened to these tracks during tv or radio airplay I can review
I don't like Mondays,Silent Night,Toreodor,O Sole Mio,We'll meet again,Danny Boy,Amazing Grace all from G4's lovely third album Act Three.

Oh my goodness have G4 moved up with this album!!

All the tracks I have listened to so far superb-every track well placed with care and thought on this album. From the beauty of Silent Night,Danny Boy (There will be videos for these two tracks),the emotional mellow sound of Jon's stunning vocal on I don't like Monday's,the wonderful big band sound of We'll meet again to the wonderful Toreador and O Sole Mio ..G4 cross the genres totally on this album.

Just to mention two of the tracks on the album further -
A absolute corker is Silent Night-not easy to review this track and do it justice you need to hear it..how it builds..the beauty, the harmonies. There is to be a video for this track and thats great news because it is so what G4 are about.
Amazing Grace-oh my.. this was performed recently on a Songs of Praise special show from the Royal Albert Hall-stunning is the word.Totally acapella-total silence from the Songs of Praise RAH audience as they listened to this beautiful track.

Tracks I can review so far ..I don't like Mondays,Silent Night,Toreodor,O Sole Mio,We'll meet again,Danny Boy,Amazing Grace ..all superb-not one a filler track.

It is perhaps fitting that the cover for Act Three reminds me a little of the cover for G4's debut album..because in this album G4 show how much they have matured from that debut.A lovely album from G4 and a must have for all fans of the classical crossover genre.Jx

A lovely third album by G45
G4's third album Act Three looks set to follow the platinum successes of the first two albums with a lovely tracklisting which includes:

Volare, Somebody To Love, Danny Boy, O Sole Mio, Amazing Grace, No Matter What, I Don't Like Mondays, Crazy, Cavatina (She was Beautiful,) Toreador, Old And Wise, We'll Meet Again and bonus track Silent Night.

Somebody to love is a fabulous version of the Queen song - with Jon Ansell holding out notes for an incredible length of time at the end of the song and the layering of the harmonies throughout the song are superb. Danny Boy has been done in a choral way and uses the boys classically trained voices beautifully making great use of the harmonies. Amazing Grace has been recorded in acappella form and is quite "hairs on the back of the neck" beautiful. Once again they have included a "controversial" track with "I Dont Like Mondays"......a more mellow version than that of the Boomtown Rats with the vocals and harmonies particularly bringing out the tragedy of the song. Two of the tracks have been recorded with a Big Band.

This album is a great mix of good challenging popular songs, lovely musical theatre in the form of No Matter What by Andrew Lloyd Webber and some fabulous classical/classical style songs like O Sole Mio and Toreador.

Another "must have" for all G4 fans and a great introduction to their amazing vocals for any new fans. A lovely album to be enjoyed by anyone who appreciates great vocals and harmonies.
