The JH Backing Band2
As a firm and long-standing JH fan I have to say that this album is a massive disappointment. Holland's musical skill and those of his band deserve more than simply being trundled out year after year as a backing band for a string of well-known names. Perhaps that would be just about acceptable if the tracks were good but they are merely average non-country - in fact, pretty well non-anything - tracks. Jools Holland is perhaps one of the nation's finest musicians and arrangers but he carries on hiding his light under a bushel of other people's singing. And then of course he insists on singing! Great pianist, great band leader, but very poor singer. Bring out an instrumental album Jools and give the band a chance to show its incredible talents and remember, Goodman, Miller et al did not need to sing to sell their albums.

OK music- not country though2
When I asked for this and received it as a Christmas present, I expected it to be a lot more country- maybe next time I should check the singers rather than the front cover/title. This isn't country enough for me. Which isn't a bad thing- it's fine as music, just not good country.

Self - indulgent rubbish1
Firstly let me state I am a fan of Jools Holland & the R & B Orchestra that's the reason I bought this c.d.
As someone else stated in another review I should have checked out the singers. If your idea of pleasure is to hear beautiful classic songs being butchered by so called singers (Lulu, Geldof e.t.c.) then this is for you otherwise steer clear of this self - indulgent nonsense and go for the originals instead.
I expected better of Mr Holland & his crew. 1 star for the fact that they can obviously play their instruments, be it without any soul or emotion on this hideous album.
