Editorial Reviews

CD Description
'When Your Heart Stops Beating' is the debut album from Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker - former members of pop-punk outfit Blink 182. The album sees the band continue with the punksound that graced their previous bands material, while doing away with the frat-boy humour and poppy edge that Blink 182 had been known for. The 7" only single 'Lycanthrope' is also included.

Spot on (Better than the AVA album)5
+44's debut feels like Mark and Travis are picking up where Blink 182 left off... except not.

It's got the trademark punk-rock/pop-punk stylings that Blink had, but there are electronic undertones and to be honest... catchier songs than Blink 182's last release.

For someone like me who enjoys a range of music (metal, punk rock, pop, electronica, ska...) this is a great up-tempo album with some good upbeat tracks.

Songs like 'When Your Heart Stops Beating', 'Lycanthrope' and 'No It Isn't' stand out most on the first listen. Some songs don't make as much of an impression at first, but they'll grow on you with time!

This is a great debut from Mark and Travis's new project and I'm sure they'll do very well with their next album.

Overall, this is a brilliant feel-good, upbeat cd that's got quite a few tracks that would sound great blasting from a car whilst speeding down a motorway. If you liked Blink 182's last release, you should definatley get this!!

WOW!5
Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker make a come back with a fantastic album. Firstly let me just say that automatically people are going to mention the fact that Tom Delonge isn't in the band and in my opinion its better this way.

Upon hearing a review from Kerrang! magazine giving it 2 stars and saying it was boring I felt it was extremely harsh and decided to give the album a try. I can tell you that boring is certainly not a word to describe it and this is something you will realise when you listen to the album.

The band jump straight in with Lycanthrope, an upbeat song with a fantastic riff and truly brilliant lyrics. Then the chorus! I always liked Mark Hoppus' harmonies and he has stretched one octave higher with his voice.

As Kerrang! magazine rated this at just 2 stars I took the time to listen to Angels and Airwaves, "We Don't Need To Whisper" again and quite frankly I found Tom Delonge's lyrics bland and the album itself boring.

Some people may think that rating this album at 5 stars is a bit extreme but personally I found the music anything but dull. Mark Hoppus's voice has improved, Travis Barker's drum fills continue to amaze me and personally apart from 1 less than average song, (which every album has) this album is much better than Angels and Airwaves.

Lastly, I do apologise to +44 as I know they do not like being compared from Blink 182 or being compared to Angels and Airwaves.

woAh this is awsome5
if you liked the last blink album you will love this
if you have been wondering what 2/3 of blink have been doing this is it
my favrote songs are probably, not the ones that were relased before the cd but rather baby come on and make you smile
if you thought ava were boring and reminising over the last blink album this is the next one that was never made.
