Hed Kandi Classics
Being the proud owner of 54 Hed Kandi albums I know a good one when its released....and this is one! All three CD's are packed with classic house tunes and remixes. A great album if your new to the funky house scene. Classics such as Hardsoul and MAW make appearances on the 1st disc with Joey Negro, Soulsearcher and the Freemasons bringing up the 2nd.
The only downfall of this album is that the 3rd does stray too far into the mainstream commercial dance which Kandi is dedicatedly against with songs like Call On Me sneeking onto the album. However all of those cheesy songs are mixed to perfection - even Put You Hands Up For Detroit (I hate the original!!)
Saying that every disc is a perfect party CD and there are no bad tracks!
If you like your commercial dance then don't buy this album because you won't like it.
If your a house fan, or just looking for a CD that's a bit funkier and cooler THEN BUY THIS ALBUM because it is the best out and you will love it.
If you like the 1st and 2nd CD's then look for other Disco Kandi titles.
Hed Kandi Classics
Bought this instead of Clubbers Guide 2007, and so glad I did!
This compilation, like every other Hed Kandi CD i have, is fantastic. The choice of tracks is faultless and the mix is fantastic!
The first CD is a Soulful Mix, the second is a Classic Mix and the third is the Grand Finale Mix.
The only gripe is that its missing one of my favourite funky house tracks that is on Kandi's first mix CD, World Series UK: Volume 1, which is Morjac ft. Raz Conway - Stars!!!
However, apart from that I cannot find a single fault with the CD, well worth the money if you like Hed Kandi.
Soul Mix on a Funky House Compilation???
Always liked funky or soulful house music but this is the first House album I've ever bought. Bought it cos there was quite a few good, well-known tracks (past and present) and I thought I'd discover some other good ones that I didn't know and I did (a couple anyway). Problem is though, the MAIN reason I bought the thing is cos I absolutely LOVE - "Put Your Hands Up for Detroit", due to it's COMPLETE FUNKINESS and danceability, only to discover that some bright spark decided it was a good idea to put a soul remix of the track on this FUNKY HOUSE compilation (#@!!##*) To be totally honest, I was already suspicious when I saw "Soul Central mix" or whatever it's called after track listing on Amazon but I still ordered it cos it had the best overall selection of tunes and I thought that this was the actual full title of the main version that everyone knows, especially as it was on the FUNKY HOUSE COMPILATION!!! (Did I say that already?). Apart from all that, generally, I think the compilation is too large (3 CDs which is annoying) with the best tunes spread out to widely across the whole thing; or it could've been organised better, like with all the classics on 1 CD, all the latest hits on another etc. Many of the other songs on there are nice enough but nothing special - they seem like fillers. I'll have to make my own personal compilation out of it all or else it won't get played. What a pain in the bum.
