Dawn of War:
Ten thousand years have passed since the treasonous acts of Chaos toppled the Golden Age of mankind. Fires burn brightly throughout the galaxies, illuminating carnage and slaughter as mankind defends itself from ancient enemies. Hardened forces collide with one goal in mind, the complete extermination of their opposition. Control one of four unique races in head-to-head or cooperative multiplayer action, where faith, skill, and strategy are requisites in ruling the universes.
Winter Assault:
The expansion pack to the award winning Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War will build upon the most exciting, visceral, front-line battlefield ever seen in an RTS game. Lost amongst the ruins of a leveled city lies an Emperor Class Titan, a war vessel of untold power forged in the planet-wide furnaces of Mars, and revered by billions as the epitome of Imperial dominance. The one who controls it will command the power to destroy, or defend, a world. The Imperials will summon it to overcome great evil, Chaos will corrupt it for their own designs, Orks will destroy it in their bloodlust and Eldar will disregard it in their arrogance.
Dark Crusade:
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Dark Crusade will feature two new playable races, the Tau Empire and the Necrons, bringing the number of totally unique races to an unprecedented seven. In addition to the two new playable races, Dark Crusade will feature an all-new single player campaign centering on the conquest of a "meta-map," with each territory captured giving tangible rewards to the occupying force. A greatly expanded multiplayer component and a completely unique economy model for the Necrons will present gamers with the most compelling Dawn of War game to-date.

Best RTS ever
This game is the best RTS you will play thus far. It immerses you into huge battles and provides great graphics and camera movement (The camera movement is the smoothest and best around). All forces are nicely weight up so that any faction can win a battle.
I personally play the imperial guard lots online especially, and to counter a previous review you need ogryn to protect you men when in tight spots (they are also in the books). This is why the game is perfectly balanced.
Event when not playing online it is thoroughly enjoyable as the skirmishes can keep you happy for month, even years in my case.
The game is much better than most other strategies as it attaches you to your units, therefore you want to protect them and give them the best change possible. The only other competitor in my mind is Company Of Heroes which is also created by THQ.
A Supremely perfect game, and a must have for all RTS gamers. Go for it!!!!
Excellence At Its Best!
Dawn Of War...this game truly wrote history. The game is based on "Warhammer 40000", one of Games Workshop's tabletop games. Many tabletop gamers out there, who have spent hundreds of hours of painfully sticking together their miniatures, then painstakingly painting them and then playing with friends on the battlefield will rejoice to see their models here, on the PC, in FULL 3D Action!
And I really mean full 3D! This game's engine allows the camera to fully pan 360° and zoom so far in, that you can see the scratches on an Imperial Guardsman's armor! This allows each gamer to adjust his preferred viewing distance and most notably, takes him/her into the thick of action.
Also for gamers, who have never heard of the Warhammer 40k universe before, this game won't be disappointing. It offers many features an RTS gamer can only dream of: squad-based combat, morale, tactical terrain cover, units that can temporarily fly over impassable terrain, tanks and buildings that can garrison your troops, map-control through strategic point capture, forward bases, squad- and vehicle caps to avoid spamming (especially in Multiplayer) etc.
With a total of seven unique races to play, each having their own strengths, weaknesses, special powers, magic etc; this game is FAR from boring!
The game first came out in 2004, and now, in 2008, one has to admit that the graphics engine is indeed old. No HDR, no Bloom lighting, no anisotropic filtering etc. Nevertheless, what really stuns me is that the battle animations are truly a milestone: enemies don't simply drop dead if they die. No; when hit by a grenade, they fly through the air, and if they survive, jump back up and when in close combat, finish their enemies off with lots of gore.
While some complain about the old engine of this game, I am impressed what the engine is still capable of doing: Eldar summon a lighting storm over the battlefield. Space Marines call for orbital bombardment! Imperial Guard call in for an air strike; Chaos summon daemons and a Bloodthirster onto the field. Basilisks unleash earth-shattering rounds into the thick of battle, while Tau Skyray Ships literally flood the battlefield in liquid fire. All in fantastic detail.
A good feature of this game is the fact that you can review any skirmish games you have played, thus being able to enjoy the same relentless battle you played for the last two hours, from a completely different perspective. While you were struggling to keep the upperhand while playing the game, you can now sit back, zoom in, and just like the cameraman in a movie, view the battle with ease!
The Dawn Of War: Anthology pack offers 3 games:
Dawn Of War (original game, including Space Marines, Eldar, Chaos Marines and Orks)
Winter Assault (1st expansion including the Imperial Guard)
Dark Crusade (2nd expansion including Tau and Necrons)
...and to sum it all up: a total of 2 narrative campaigns and one campaign, where you choose a race and aim to conquer an entire planet!
In my opinion this is an extremely good value for your money! You get more than what you pay for and this game won't be a let down for hundreds of gaming hours, for sure! Even though four years have passed since it first came out, Dawn of War is undoubtedly still firmly holding ground, and the latest expansion: Soulstorm, offering 2 more races (Dark Eldar and Sisters Of Battle) as well as a free download from the internet featuring the Daemon Hunters race (so a total of 10 races!) will guarantee that this game will live on in all its glory!
Best Game[s] Ever
install ALL of these games for a truly awesome gaming experience! By itself DoW is OK, with the Winter Assault Expansion Pack it's better, but to enjoy the game at it's best install The Dark Crusade Expansion Pack. Don't throw the serial code away or [as i found out he hard way] you will not be able to enjoy the full benifeits of this game
Overall this game rocks!
