Let's get one thing out of the way here: A Whole New World is not going to appeal to anyone that winces when they hear mawkish music. The album is, from that particular point of view, one very long, undiluted exercise in cheese. Those who do enjoy the unapologetic romance of love songs however, may well appreciate the languorous, soppy nature of this well-meaning charity album, which features well known hits like "Endless Love", "Cherish", "Tonight I Celebrate My Love For You" and "I've Had The Time Of My Life", and uptempo songs like "Islands In The Stream" and "The Best Things In Life Are Free" and "The Two Of Us". Andre and Price never quite top the original versions, and though one or two - "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" is a glaring example - are risible by anyone's standards, most work reasonably well as modern covers. Oh, and despite rumours that Price is tone deaf and lacks range, she manages to hold her own here - though of course it's her versatile vocalist hubbie that steals the show.--Danny McKenna

This is a Sonic Cathedral Of Sound
There simply aren't the necessary words to describe what's on this CD. I'd call it music, but this miasma of sonic exultation reaches far beyond my understanding of the term. I'd mention the singing, if that's what it is, but again, my brain has failed me, and all I can do is dribble uncontrollably. Price and Andre have indeed created A Whole New World. A Very Different World. A world where sound and pain are one, and silence merely the echo of a distant loss.

For £9.98 a portion of that world can be yours.

A new beginning
Until a few weeks ago I was at a real low ebb. My wife had left me, I had just lost my job as an easter egg packer for cadburys, and the baliffs where on their way to repossess my house. I think at that point I was potentially going to do something very regrettable, but then a friend lent me this ablbum and it literally changed my life. The sheer positiveness of these two remarkable people came across like nothing I have experienced since hearing Martin Luthers "I have a dream" speech as a teenager. The message of love that they send is something not to be missed. Go out and buy.
