Manufacturer's Description
The extra surround channel creates an even more exciting, enveloping surround-sound effect.

HDMI out for digital high-definition video and digital audio

HDMI is a direct digital connection that can carry digital HD video as well as digital multichannel audio. By eliminating the conversion to analogue signals it delivers perfect picture and sound quality, completely free from noise. HDMI is fully backward-compatible with DVI.

Video Upscaling for improved resolution of up to 1080i

With Video Upscaling you can increase the resolution of SD (Standard Definition) video signals that DVD uses to HD (High Definition) so you’ll be able to see more details thanks to a sharper, more true-to-life picture. The resulting HD video output signal can be fed to an HD display through HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface).

Wireless rear speakers for fewer wires across your room

Wireless rear speakers give you scalability and mobility in speaker placement. Developed using interference-free technology, wireless speakers provide full surround sound without unsightly wire connections.

Neodymium Ribbon Tweeters for crystal clear sound

Enjoy unparalleled, natural and crystal-clear sound quality with Omni-directional Neodymium Ribbon Tweeter. Dipoles that radiate high frequency sounds in a full 360-degree pattern results in a very 'open' wide sound spectrum that delivers crisp clarity and high-pitched detail in the higher tones. This further enhances the surround experience in a multi-channel system and is especially noticed when listening to Super Audio CD sound where the clarity in music is excellent.

Multi-channel SACD for total music immersion

Multi-channel SACD prepared. This new generation music format gives you Ultra high quality music reproduction, 5.1 multi-channel surround sound and full backward and forward compatibility with CD.

Slim and flexible design with optional wall-mounting

Ultra-slim flat panel speakers to complement your home

Don't Bother!!1
This equipment looks fantastic on photo's but beware!!
Firstly check the dimensions, the system is much larger than the carefully taken photo would suggest. The AV subwoofer in particular is enormous.
Also don't be taken in by the wireless story, it's not. True the system rear speakers do not connect directly to the subwoofer but are connected by wires to an AV wireless receiver unit which sits at the back of the room.
This is where my problems started, I can't get the wireless speakers to work. The supplier was initially very good replacing both the wireless receiver and the main DVD unit which houses the transmitter. Since then i have tried unsuccesfully to get someone from their technical department to call me. And don't even think about Philips, what a waste of space. Their tecnical support people don't even know the product. They asked if I had swiched the wireless receiver unit on but it doesn't have an on/off switch, a blue led comes on when it is receiving the wireless signal. I don't even have any other wireless equipment to interfere with it.
This product is all about aesthetics but is poor quality in performance and support. I would strongly recommend not to purchase it as looking at the various AV forums, this isn't an isolated case.

Great Sound.......BUT3
Had read a lot of reviews on this system over the past 6 or 7 months and decided that I should go down this rout as my screen is a Philips so synching should be easy, when using a scart that was the case and the TV would switch source automatically, now that i have a (long) HDMI it has to be switched manualy, though it's worth it for the upscaling (720p seems best). No doubt that sound is fantastic, though the sub can be a little heavy at times and it doesn't seem to be a powerful as my older Yamaha reciever. Be wary of the size, the unit has had to be sited quit a ways from the screen as it is very tall and won't fit onto my Alphason stand, that now means a big black cable to the junction box and two big black cables leading to the sub running across the living room, the BIGGEST dissapointment is the inabilty to accept 5.1 or 6.1 from an external source, meaing all the lovely stuff broadcast in HD is just listened to via the TV, should have done more homework on it.

Slow Philips5
Great looking and superb sound from CD and cinema.Great seperation and depth.
Only real problem is the slowness of changing sources.Drive you nuts.
Also I cannot play back some of my sources i.e radio from my freeview tuner which worked fine on my previous JVC sytem.
Absolutley worth buying.
I have now had it for 6 months since I wrote the review and it has become even more irritating. If it weren't for the wireless rear speakers I would not buy it again.I have no wires showing. There is also an intrusive background hum.he remote is even slower and very unuser friendly
