Manufacturer's Description
1944 St. Saveur, D-Day +10
I've been out of Baker's shadow for no more than three days now and already I'm feeling the weight of my fear. The fear that around every corner somebody's lying in wait. The fear that any wrong choice could end up killing what I'm trying to save. Sgt Joe Red Hartsock - 101st Airborne

Single Player
Delve deeper into the most authentic WWII experience as you take the role of Sgt. Joe Red Hartsock, the new squad leader of 2nd Squad. You represent the best of the 101st Airborne, the Screaming Eagles. Lead your squad of American Paratroopers, and command your assault team and fire team through war-toen France's urban streets and villages. On the verge of liberating vital villages in Normandy, your mission will take you deep behind enemy lines to accomplish missions more dangerous than before.
As squad leader, you will control your team with a powerful and easy to use one-button command system. Suppress the enemy with a barrage of gunfire with your fire team, while you and your assault team move in for the kill.

Multiplayer
Assume the role of squad leader and command your assault and fire teams and go head-head in objective based multiplayer missions. Fight for freedom as the Allied forces, or fight for WWII dominance as the Germans. Choose from multiplayer missions like Bunker where you will need to take advantage of nearby cover if you want to stay alive and Aid Station where you must choose from several paths to transport vital first aid supplies to the front line.

Skirmish Mode
Single Player and Co-Op
New for Brothers in Arms Earned in Blood, Skirmish mode features objective based missions available for both single player and co-op play. Choose to play as both the Allied and German forces and achieve unique mission objectives specific to each map and side.
Objective:Outsmart your enemy and achieve unique Allied or German objectives based on real WWII events
Defense: Test your stamina and resolve against waves of oncoming enemy soldiers that get more difficult as time goes on.
Timed Assault: Destroy all the enemies on the map within a limited time.
Tour of Duty: Complete all five German or American maps with only one life and one squad with no checkpoints or saves.

i don't normally write reviews but having found this game so annoying I thought i would give it a go.
The intros to each chapter are so boring and pointless, and whilst the graphics are commendable the battle situations become increasingly repetitive with several enemies hiding behind a barrier firing at your unit. You pin them down with your unit and flank them, EVERY TIME. nothing changes. You shoot an enemy several times in the head but instead of dying he turns around shoots you once, and its all the way back to the start of the chapter. So annoying.
COD is infinitely more exciting, engrossing and enjoyable than this.
I have only played Brothers in Arms for a couple of days but have now decided to pack it in.

Great on XP - Doesn't work on Vista1
Had the game for my XP machine before I upgrading to Vista. Game was brilliant. The use of squad tactics puts a different slant on your basic WWII shooter. Problem is, it doesn't work on Vista. You'd probably be able to find a work-around on the web, but you want a game to work straight out of the box. If you've got Vista wait to see how Brother's in Arms: Hell's Highway turns out May/June. If you run XP on your machine, get it and enjoy.

Challenging5
No health packs. No weapon upgrades. Reasonably intelligent enemies. Authentic locations (based on maps and photographs). Squads to control with a easy to master click and point controls. The game is engrossing and challenging. Would recommend to anyone looking for a more grown-up WWII FPS. "Road to Hill 30" was also excellent.
