Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
One of the reigning genuine delights of children’s television, eight of the adventures of Shaun The Sheep are brought together on this compelling and vital DVD.

The creation and work of Nick Park and his team at Aardman Animations (whose other delightful creations include, of course, Wallace & Gromit and the more recent Flushed Away), Shaun The Sheep follows its title character, who it’s fair to say isn’t one to go with the flock. And, with a strong backing collection of characters, including the memorable sheepdog Bitzer, the result is a collection of charming and very funny escapades with real, honest family appeal.

As you’d expect from Aardman, Shaun The Sheep is an exquisitely animated piece of work, painstakingly detailed and clearly a real labour of love. But it’s the writing too that underpins these eight instalments, and while you can’t help wondering if a few more of the episodes could be squeezed onto the disc, there’s little arguing with the rewatch value on offer here. Not least because of Shaun’s likely near-magnetic hold on the younger end of its broad audience.

A firm and refreshing riposte to those who claim children’s television is nowhere near as good as it used to be, Shaun The Sheep is simply terrific, wholesome entertainment. And it’ll happily give the vast majority of supposed-kids’ TV shows a run for their money… --Jon Foster

DVD Description
It's chaos in the countryside with that rebellious Shaun the Sheep!

Shaun is a sheep who doesn't follow the flock - in fact, he leads them into all sort of scrapes and scraps, turning peace in the valley into mayhem in the meadow. Shaun and his pals run rings around their poor sheepdog Bitzer, as he tries to stop the farmer finding out what's going on behind his back. Every day brings a new adventure for Shaun.

Featuring eight baa...rilliant adventures from the fantastic BBC series, loved by children and adults alike: Shape Up With Shaun; Bathtime, Fetching; Take Away; Still Life; Scrumping; Little Sheep Of Horrors; The Kite. Also includes a delightful Shaun sing-along.

Shaun the Sheep's adventures are produced by Nick Park’s Aardman Animations studio, the creators of Wallace and Gromit.

My two year old received this DVD on her second birthday a month ago, and we have since watched it daily, with unwaiving enthusiasm. We, that's one toddler, and three adults with a sense of humour (and university degrees, in case you think we might be a little simple). It's one of the funniest things I've come across in ages, and when it comes to toddler background noise, the fact that it's just tunes and grunts, not spoken words, makes it a most pleasant background noise too (especially since the toddler shuts up while it's on!)

I love Shaun!4
I thought Shaun was hilarious when I first watched him in Wallace & Gromit: A Close Shave (buy that if you haven't seen it) so I just had to get his DVD. Some of the episodes aren't quite as funny as others but then I am 28 - my humour perhaps isn't quite childish enough!

Frustratingly it is a little on the short side, but then it is intended for children who obviously have a shorter attention span! Also the theme music being played before every single episode is a bit tedious but I don't expect they intended for someone to sit down and watch the whole DVD in one go!
All in all a great DVD, entertaining for adults and children alike, go and buy this now!

Sheer genius!5
Sheer genius once again with the usual subtle humour and attention to detail. Perfect entertainment for someone in their ..... 40's!! (Children may enjoy it too!)
