Only those who know how to ROCK, know when to ROLL!5
Ginger is, in my opinion, this countries finest (and most active) songwriter and has a legacy of at least 15 absolutely essential CD's under his belt.

Welcome to number 16.

The influence of Tim Smith and `Random' Jon Poole should not be overlooked with this release as it explodes skewed pop all over the face of the unsuspecting listener. Gingers pop credentials were already sealed with Clam Abuse and a large portion of The Wildhearts comeback CD `The Wildhearts Must Be Destroyed' and it's tempting to say that this release should see him garner mainstream appeal.

However, as all Wildhearts fans know, Ginger will probably languish forever is the realms of a cult figure who everyone feels should have more popularity (rather than notoriety - he has plenty of that) than he currently has.

This CD is a monster, from the opening Toto-does-reggae (but in a good way) of `Black Widows' to the closing `Siberian Angel' it sprays its matter in so many directions it makes your head spin (again, in a good way).

It rocks, it shimmers, hell, it even swings (the diversion into big band swing was both unexpected and entertaining).

If you like rock, buy it, if you like pop, buy it, if you have feet to tap and a head to nod - you need to buy it. Fact.

Another stunning album from Britain's best kept secret..5
Fans of the poppier side of Ginger's repertoire are well catered for here with some beautiful, hook-laden tracks. Take for example the sublime "Holiday", surely the finest 4 minutes of upbeat sunny catchiness you will hear, capturing that up-lifting feeling you get when you travel to sunnier climes. This album is another classic from Ginger, different to Valor, different to Wildhearts and SG5 but still un -mistakenly Ginger. Other highlights include "Jake" an 8 minute tribute to his son with aching strings and soaring melodies, what could have been a risky step turns out to be a wonderful song with real feeling. "When She Comes" and "This Bed is on Fire" are trademark sing-along beauties with all the hooks you would expect. The subject matter of "Smile in Denial" is another song about the break-up of Ginger's relationship with his wife and despite the serious subject matter turns out to be another easy on the ear pop gem. This is Ginger on top form and gets better with every listen, you can tell he puts so much heart, soul and love into his music, and the listener ends up with the reward.

another ginger classic5
the greatest british songwriter of all time creates another masterpiece. this album is a lot softer than previous albums but still has all the hooks and melody you would associate with a ginger record. tracks such as this bed is on fire and cant drink you pretty will have you bouncing around with a big grin on your face and the beautiful save me is simply as good a song as i have heard in a long time. whilst still not being the classic that he produced during his wildhearts days any fan of good music should buy this album.
