Customer Reviews

Suprisingly Good5
Coming out some 3 years after the tour, thought this would be some low budget package.
Essentially it is the whole 2003 tour concert from start to finish, nothing else added, no interviews, fancy graphics, back stage banta, just a good solid Yes show, shot in hi def, with the classic line up doing what they do best.
The liner notes indicate that Mr Howe felt this was one of their best performances and I have to agree all the band appear on form, playing to an appreciative, Montreux Jazz festival crowd. I tend to grade Yes DVD's by how Awaken comes across, and in this case its about the best I've seen/heard, hence a 5 star rating.
Overall, a solid selection of songs, new and old, including a suburb solo rendition of To Be Over, a rocking South Side of the Sky and In the Presence Of benefitting from Rick Wakemans keys.
A worthy addition to the catalogue of Yes concerts and the missing element of the Yes Speak DVD. A must have for all Yes fans and a welcome shot whilst the band are on hiatus

Yes, its simply brilliant5
This DVD deserves a 5 star for performance, video editing, video quality and sound. A must own!

' Well crafted genius........5
A wonderful testament to how a band has evolved into an entity over the course of several decades producing the finest and most original music of it's type anywhere. Recorded on the ' Magnification' tour of 2003 at the Montreux Jazz Festival, this great band are at the absolute top of their game. One might argue that the choice of set list lacks ' Close to the Edge', 'Starship Trooper', 'Perpetual Change' and a few other gems( which are all well documented on other Yes concert dvd's anyhow) But the choice of tracks from the 'Magnification' album sit perfectly well among such established Yes classics as 'Siberian Khatru', 'And You And I', 'Roundabout', ' Heart of the Sunrise', and the welcome surprise addition to the set of ' South Side of the Sky'. The musicianship on display here is customarily faultless from all five members of the band with special mention due to Jon Anderson's unique vocal delivery. The man belies his advancing years and continues to nail the range every time. Lacking a little in the sonic department on this dvd, you really have to sit in front of this band to appreciate just how powerful they really are. However, this minor point does not detract from the fact that Yes have once again produced a work of well crafted genius and prove that, on this particular evening in Montreux, they have few, if any, peers...
