I loved it
When I bought this ps2 came and switched it on I was so hooked on it i couldn`t get off the machine and i loved the challenges within the missions and to top it all once you have completed the game the is a section called previously on 24 and better your score to gain bonus features. The story line is brill to as it shows chase becoming involved with 24 series. If ever they make another 24 game i will be one of the first to buy. Its ace!
Good but the shooting is rubbish
This game is widely underrated, except the official ps2 magazine give it 8/10, and theyre barking up the right tree cos its pretty good. It does a good job of re-creating the 24 series into a video game - every sort of hour that passes is a new episode and the clock runs down etc just like in the series. The story is really good and creates a whole lot of added tension - in certain missions it really does feel like its you fighting your way out of this terrible situation. A perfect example is in one of the earlier missions, and I'm not going to spoil what happens but it really does feel like your in major trouble. This game is good at creating moments like that, so if you like stuff like that you'll like this.
The shooting missions have, I'm sorry to say, lock on shooting (hold down the L1 button and the computer aims for you) but it does it well by certain standards. This is mainly because, like in Everything or Nothing, you can take cover behind walls, high or low, pop your head out to shoot and return to cover before you get plugged. Actually, I prefered the shooting in this game to Everything or Nothing because in this game, when you hold down the L1 button you actually pop your head out of cover, rather than just magically locking on to someone you cant see. Its alot more realistic, though it is a copied idea. But really it gets tedious (I mean what is the point of lock on shooting, unless your Lara Croft?) but that doesnt matter because there is alot more to this game than just the shooting. There's a wide variety of driving missions where you have to tail someone, or your being chased, or you have to get somewhere before the timer runs out or someone dies etc. and in the context of the story these missions can be really exciting. Theres also stealth missions. Also there are sequences where you have to defuse a bomb, pick a lock, hack a computer, trace phone calls, interrorgate a suspect etc. and these bits take place in the form of mini game sequences which are also pretty good so all in all its a pretty decent package, as long as you dont mind wading through a bit of lock on shooting. They should of made it a normal straight up shooter and it would have been loads more exciting in my opinion.
There are other games that are alot better than this but if your bored and you've run out of games to play, this is definitly for you. I'd give it 7/10. I had to give it 3/5 cos I cant give it 4/5, its not that good, but out of 10 I'd give it a 7. I'd be able to give it 4/5 if the shooting wasnt rubbish. Basically you have to be patient and wade through these parts and you'll soon be rewarded with a decent mission. And a game that makes you do that doesnt deserve a four star rating. Unless of course you like lock on shooting in which case you'll be right at home.
Who wouldn't like 24?
The second I got it in my PS2 that's it, I was hooked. Amazing graphics and intense missions. If you've got some money, spend it on this, it's a top buy! It has 58 missions, I mean 58 amazing missions! Play as Jack Bauer, Tony Almieda, Michelle Dessler, Chase Edmunds, Kim Bauer, and many more!
