Album of the year (so far...)
I listen to a lot of music, and keep up to date with the popular-indie-culture that defines bands like the Arctic Monkeys, The View and Kaiser Chiefs. Any of those bands would die to create an album as good as this one. There's a number of very strong songs on here (Fight, Country Boy, Guilty) and if you're a Franks fan this is probably their best album.
If you're not a Franks fan then do yourself a big favour and get hold of this. This is rockin' indie guitar music at it's best.
A Renewed Interest In The Frank and Walters
I first bought a Frank and Walters cd (ep's) back in the early 90's and loved their brand of indie pop, not dull and shoegazy, like Ride and the Pale Saints but bright and cheerful, with some deceptive lyrics.
To date, with seven albums under their belt, you'd probably be hard pushed to find many people who've ever heard of them, but that's their loss.
To me The Frank and Walters deserve far more recognition and success than they've currently got but, hopefully, this album will put paid to that. From the new single Fight, through to Johnny Cash there's no dead wood in this collection. For me Miles and Miles is the jewel in this crown, 1,000 times better than the excellent "After All", their biggest chart hit to date, and packed full of Indie Pop classics like C'mon and City Lights, no educated indie fan should be without this cd. It's criminal that these lads from Cork haven't had their efforts rewarded. Buy this cd, you won't be disappointed.
The Franks are back to their best.
This is the Frank and Walters first album of new material in six years and it must be said that they are really back to their best. While all the tracks on the album are fantastic, the stand out track for me is, Fight. It's strong, well written and perfectly performed, with an excellent video accompanying it.
If you're a Franks fan of old, you will not be disappointed. If you've never heard them, then this is an album you will not regret buying. They deserve so much more recognition then they receive.
