Manufacturer's Description
Developed by Evolution Studios, MotorStorm is a brutal, no-holds-barred offroad racing game created exclusively for the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system. Set in the fictitious desert environment of Monument Valley, MotorStorm takes full advantage of the processing power of the PlayStation 3 to deliver an extreme racing event where the goal is to not only win, but to survive.

In the game, players will descend upon the MotorStorm Festival, a celebration of the alternative and extreme offroad racing culture. Throwing caution to the wind, players will take on a variety of racing fanatics and battle through chaotic, action-packed tracks to try and become the Festival champ.

Capitalizing on its pedigree in offroad racing, Evolution Studios has created a true next-generation gameplay experience that features smarter artificial intelligence (AI), real-time track deformation, fully destructible vehicles and environments, and stunningly detailed scenery. Tapping into the power of the PlayStation 3, MotorStorm will showcase cinematic effects such as motion blur, depth-of-field, and Hollywood-style crash cams that replay spectacular crash sequences during a race.

Great arcade racer4
This is quite simply the best arcade racer since the original Super Mario Kart. It's races are intense and hard fought. You can be at the front and end up coming last or vice versa and all this can happen in the space of one lap. The courses, although there are only around eight of them, are well designed with multiple routes each one tailoured to the specific vehicle class you are driving. The AI is simply brilliant, viscious but fun to play against. The online racing has flaws, it does, but is really good fun to play against other humans.
There in is the problem. No Splitscreen multiplayer which is the hallmark of all the best console racers. If it had that it would be almost a perfect game and would have achieved full marks.

Madness !!4
Madness !!! this is just a fantastic game. What is fun about this game is that it is easy to play and fun for all families !! Graphics just blow you away and selection of vehicles is a must. It reminds me a bit of Star Wars; The Phantom Menance, when little Anikin is is that game where he races around the desert. It's like being in a real vehicle, when you go over bumps and fall, your stomach does butterflies !! My wife and I can not stop playing.

For those two reviewists who wrote that the graphics are apalling and no split screen, who CARES ???? none of the most wrote reviewists, who wrote positively, care. I just think there will always be a couple of reviewists that write negatively; children throwing their toys out of their cots !! get lives or go and bury youselves in holes and dont crawl out until you can be REAL reviewists. Remember, reviewist have to write negatively AND positively....

Forgot how good it is5
For me and probably many others this was one of my first purchaces for my PS3 and as with most new toys I tend by everything I can lay my hands on in the first few weeks to feed it.
I've mainly used this game to entertain guests when they are around but I've recently gone back to having a good go at the offline game to see if there are extra tracks to be found etc.
It's hugely entertaining and will have you swearing at the tv the odd few times - ahem. The difficulty level is spot on. The visuals are gobsmacking.

For those old enough to remember - I found this very reminicent of Waverace 64.

I actually find it more fun to watch someone struggle not to get crushed by an AI truck driver rather than be racing against them on a split-screen. I've never found that a spilt screen can carry off the trick - even on the giant screens of today. The LAN trick with two screens is way better.
