Manufacturer's Description
Easy to pick-up and hard to put down! EA's Pogo Island embodies the spirit of casual gaming, offering an addictive Nintendo DS compilation of Pogo.com favourites that will entertain for hours on end.

Pogo Island pushes the phenomenon of online casual gaming to new fronts. The title marks the debut of Pogo.com, the stickiest online gaming site, on a portable console. Through the quick-play option, five of the most popular games from Pogo.com - Word Whomp, Poppit!, Phlinx, Tri-Peaks Solitaire and Squelchies - are made accessible to play anywhere and everywhere. Each game has been re-skinned to an island theme and delivers the same engrossing and stimulating gameplay that has already captivated millions online.

Complementing the quick-play option is a story mode that integrates all five Pogo games and their associated mascots into an island-wide adventure. Playing as Perry the Parrot Captain, your objective is to navigate through the island game board, reunite with each mascot, and along the way, collect tools and supplies that will help you repair your boat and leave the island. As you successfully tackle the gameboard, you will be earning tokens that not only translate into bragging rights amongst your peers but they can also be transferred to Pogo.com where they can be used to enter frequent cash drawings.

Pogo Island uses the technology of the Nintendo DS to deliver ultra-bright dual screens which provide for an amplified gaming experience. Meanwhile, the simplicity of the touch-screen controls makes for increased user accessibility and a minimal learning curve.

Surprisingly good...5
We picked this up because it was cheap, and it has turned out to be surprisingly good. Our 9 and 6 year olds return to it again and again, and the nature of the puzzles (solving anagrams, popping balloons) make it fun for adults too.

A great fun game4
I bought this game on impulse because it was so cheap, and it has certainly proved a worthwhile choice! Basically, you play to escape an island by completing some puzzle/arcade type games, finishing up by flinging your friends onto the boat using a slingshot.

There are five main puzzle games,
1. word whomp, in which you have to figure out the words which can be made from a series of letters given. This is a good game, thoguh i am often frustrated that words I KNOW exist are not accepted, then really rather dubious ones are included instead (and, since it is an American game, several US spellings are also included, which can drive you a bit potty when you fail to spot them).
2. Plinx, which is a variation on the "coloured blobs advance slowly down the screen, you have to shoot more blobs to make them fall off in groups" family of games. This is good fun, but not my favourite (a personal preference only)
3. Tri peaks solitaire, which is a fabulously addictive solitaire card game.
4. Poppit, in which you have to pop coloured balloons to release presents. I am still not entirely sure how this game's rules actually function, but it is fun to play even so.
5. Squielchies, which is a "line up coloured blobs to make them disappear" game. very fun, but sadly inferior to Magical Drop (a PS1 game on the same premise, which I love - this has spoilt it for me sadly!).

I gave the game four stars instead of five because there are a few annoying features (such as the inadequate instructions on poppit, and the fling your friends into the ship game), but overall this is very worthwhile and a great find for fans of Puzzle games on the DS

Very adictive! we just love it5
An elederly friend introduced me to this game and we as a family are well and truly hooked ,I have now lost count of how many I have purchased as gifts which have all been so well received by family and friends.
I only bought them Pogo Island because they too loved mine when they had a go . We have had ours over 12 months now and still waiting to tire of it ....but we havent !
