Dead or Alive 4 - The Honest Review
Hi everyone this is my honest review of DOA4 for the 360, this game no dout is one of the best fighting games availible for the xbox 360 and has had good feed back with previous games but how does 4 stand up lets see.
GAMEPLAY:
DOA4 is one of the fastest and adrenaline filled beat em ups out there, the controls are very easy to pick up and play that even your nan could give you a hammering lol. Much like its prequels DOA4 mixes fast easy to learn combos with throws and interactive environments. Unfortunatly DOA4 lacks a block button but works more on easy to execute counter moves, which adds more realism to the martial arts experience. Granted some might find this hard to pull of but adjusting the options will help by about 10%. With plenty of achievements, game modes and characters to unlock even one for the Halo fans :p DOA4 has alot of replay value. and for those who dont like too much change the DOA series is well known for its *wink* PG13 side and nothing has changed in the 4th installment.
GRAPHICS:
DOA4 has incredible graphics characters and environments are very smoothly detailed and colourful but still manages to keep the anime feel of the characters.
the physics engine is great in this game
Everything in the game moves like it would in real life and all the environments are FULLY interactive and filled with character.
MULTIPLAYER:
Ok im gonna go through the online and offline multiplayer for this game as both are really enjoyable,
offline: Get some friends over and stick it to em or team up with them to take on some CPU AI controlled chracters in fast pace battles for up to 4 players (woo lol)
Game Modes:
Single vs match - Pretty much does as it says simple one on one battle
Tag match - VS Comp or Player - 2 on 2 combat double the fun with impressive double team moves :P
Team Battle - 8 man or woman battle winner stays on first to run out of chracters is the loser.
Ok the same is repeated for Live but with some small mini games put in the Lobby section which is all good :).
OVERALL:
If you are new to DOA then you will take an instant liking to this game and the sparring mode might be a good place to start as some opponents can be really hard to beat and seeing the continue screen time after time can be annoying, but if your an all time DOA player then DOA4 has more to offer than previous chapters (quite new to the series) this is deffinitly one of the most addicting and amazing beat em up games out there to date and at that price you'd be crazy to say no
(if your a male your most probably going to love the female characters lol) DOA4 is deffinitly worth buying whether you love beat em ups or not, beacuse with mates round this game never gets boring. and the Aerosmith soundtrack on this game is aswesome :P
Thanks for reading, hope this was helpful to you

to balance out the negative reviews...
I think this is a great game and thought it my duty to balance out some of the unjustified negative reviews posted for DOA4. I will particularly highlight the review made by Mr. D. Kelly, as whilst i'm normally very tolerant of other people's opinions, i would have to argue that your view on this game is just entirely wrong.
For one thing i have played the worst fighting game in the world and it is robopit 2, not this game. Secondly the DOA series has never been about revising excessive combos, it has been about timing your attacks and blocks to decimate your opponents defense and offense. Unfortunately this requires skill, something that you clearly are lacking.
Next up are the women of the dead or alive universe. I will agree that there bodily proportions are rather extreme and even though i have never been one to shy away from attractive women, i would argue that the rather "bouncy" physics on the girls has a certain comical edge to it. If this was all there was to DOA then i'd criticise till the cows came home (thus why i always complain about DOA extreme beach volleyball), but in the case of the main DOA fighting games you get a great fighting game plus some nice birds, so stop complaining! Plus they're ninja's! Which is awesome!
I'm also sick of people saying that you can't block. Use your heads people! see that blue button your controller. The one with the x on it. Well x marks the spot in this case as, whilst this is called the "free" button in the manual and serves to start a counter when pressed with a directional button, it also acts as your block button when held on its own. Of course this doesn't work if your opponent makes a low attack or grab, which is probably what happened to you Mr. D. Kelly, but you just couldn't believe someone was skillful enough to break your guard so you, very typically, blame the game for your own shortcomings as a human being.
Last bot not least, in terms of difficulty, i love the learning curve on this game. It actually provides a challenge unlike a lot of titles, and of course it doesn't give you a tutorial on counter moves. Have you ever played a fighting game that has tutorials? That's what the manual is there for, so read it before you start complaining. The only reason this game doesn't get five stars from me is due to the slightly limited single player. As once you've done all the story modes, it's only the multiplayer that will keep you coming back. Still a fantastic title regardless and it's a shame there won't be a DOA5...
Most dull fighting game ever
this is easily the worst fighting game i've ever played. I personally don't think learning massive strings of buttons to preform 10 hit combos and fight an AI that manages to counter everything and preform unstopable combos taking off about half your health in one go, makes a good fighting game. If you are a button basher, you have literally no chance on this game, sounds great fun doesn't it.
basically unless you actually enjoy learn stupidly long button combos, and magically understand how to pull of counter throws mid way through combos (theres no tutorial explaining how anything works in this game), you shouldn't buy this game.
it tries to make up for its faults by using seminaked women as about half the characters.
also you can't really block.
Of course this is all just my opinion.
just buy soulcalibur 4 instead, its actually enjoyable.
