Excellent functions- Worth buying it
I have taken risk to buy this unit as it has got various features with a big HDD capacity and price is quite reasonable.

The unit looks slicky and variety connections such as HDMI ouput, Two Scarts, Component out, I-link, USB port etc impressed me from the beginning. Having connected the Ellion DVR-960E to a TV thru HDMI output, I have noticed that it is a better picture quality than the ones thru scart connection either Standard DVD films or TV programs coming via the Ellion DVR-960E. This may be due to video signal being transferred directly thru HDMI board not going thru so many different boards in Scart connection.

Set-up is quite easy and organised, and you can not encounter any complicated issues on this set-up menu. Shifting between DVD & HDD can be easily done by remote buttons. HDD Editing fucntion is superb and recorded programs onto HDD can be split, combined, erased etc with chapter markers. Dubbing from HDD to DVD is quite reliable too.

This is a recommended product and also very good value for such features!

All features are worked fine
Attractive cabinet with variety of connections including a handy USB port in the front and HDMI ouput in the back. I like the idea of the USB port in the front that makes your life easier when transferring some firmware software/data/even films from memory sticks straight to the unit.

I have connected this with my Sky Box and TV with HDMI inputs and all has worked fine to my expectation. Thru Scart cables between DVR-960E & my Sky Box and between my SKY Box and the TV, then thru HDMI cable between DVR-960E & TV and then I would be watching my sky programs thru DVR-960E since the picture quality looks better and recording can be made any minute by pressing a button on the remote. A 250GB HDD capacity is enough for me not to worry about the space and I suppose that DVR-960E is only one with such a large HDD you can find in the market at the moment. I had got frustrated with my previous Toshiba 80GB as the 80GB was running out of the space much quicker than thought.

I have played quite a few divx CDs with files of Xvid, AVI WAF etc and except for one, all have been played ok to the end without any major skipping or freezing. Quite reliable MPEg-4 support as well.

It deserves a five star !

How do you find a good harddrive?......
It wasen^t easy, but after going to many shops and hearing about the tech stuff I was very confused by it all. But a rule of thumb is more memory and easy to use is best!. Then buy this cause its got alot of memory 250gbs and its easy menus are a plus, and it has usb at front which is great, and conections at back which is many, and picture is brillant and it even upgrades pictures/movies tranfered by usb data clip. It has multy input ie....scarts*2...and it does not have freeview - Which is good because you dont have to buy and fit a new areial on roof just to get it to work!. It works well with skybox and video recorders and surcurity camaras and anything you plug into it!. EXCELENT product great memory easy to use works well...only complaint would be plastic front pull out for conections looks abit fragile, and hinges mite give in time, But if its fine when you get it then if your carefull it will be alright.
