Late to the Proclaimers...But What a Find!
I admit it...I was aware of the Proclaimers in the late 80s, but dismissed them without a second listen...I won this CD on a local radio station phone in. What can I say? Every now and then you listen to an album, or a series of songs that just make you feel good...better...at one with everything. "The Joyful Kilmarnock Blues" is one such song...absolutely fantastic. Comic Relief 2007 has given them a boost with 500 miles, but they deserve it. Thoughtful lyrics, catchy tunes, and unmistakable voices..my 16 year old son was even impressed with this album. They may have been going for 20 years, but now I can see why. I recommend this album unreservedly as a great way to explore their music. 5 stars and some.
5 for the songs, 0 for the cash in!
If you already own the Proclaimers greatest hits, you will have no need to purchase this - just buy the comic relief single.
This is a shameless re-packaged cash in of a 5 year old album with the current hit tacked on to the end.
If you don't own the old greatest hits, then I would waste no time in ordering this. It rocks.
Less is More
A decent compilation showcasing the depth of The Proclaimers' work. Only problem is that this re-issue is exactly the same as the previous Best of, but for the addition of the new version of 500 Miles. An extra three quid for a novelty track? I think not...
