There cannot be a Spidey fan alive that hasn’t seen the stunning movie trailer for the new film, but rather less is known about the accompanying game. It will feature a free roaming environment similar to the previous games though, which is no surprise considering how popular they are and how most subsequent superhero games have reused the same concept. It’s also known that almost the entire movie cast will be lending their vocal talents to the game, including Tobey Mcguire, Kirsten Dunst, Thomas Haden Church, James Franco, Topher Grace and Bryce Dallas Howard. The main villains of the game will, like the movie, be Sandman, Venom and the new Green Goblin. However several other minor Spider-Man villains will also appear from the comics, including Shriek and the mysterious Dragon Boss. More information will undoubtedly show up as the movie’s release date grow closer but a teaser trailer of the in-game graphics for Spidey himself suggest that this will be one of the most impressive next gen movies license so far.

Manufacturer's Description
Based on the feature film of the same name, Spider-Man 3 allows players to experience the actions of heroic red suit Spider-Man, and for the first time ever, his darker, more mysterious black suit persona. Set in a 3D side scrolling world and delivering complete touch screen handling, players must draw upon Spider-Man's vast array of moves, attacks and upgrades as they choose their path and embark on a wide variety of city-based missions and multiple movie-based and original story arcs. Additionally, Spider-Man 3 for the Nintendo DS features local wireless multiplayer gameplay featuring with a variety of modes enabling awesome two-player head-to-head challenges like Brawler, Hot Potato, Target Practice, and Combo Challenge.Features:
Welcome to the dark side - For the first time ever, control the legendary symbiotic Black Suit, which magnifies Spider-Man's strength, agility, durability and web powers, but the power comes at a price. The longer gamers play as black suited Spider-Man, the more they risk losing the good in him.

Relive the movie and go beyond as you choose - In a unique mixture of open-ended gameplay and linear story progression, players can traverse and protect massive, wide open sections of New York City, battle villains from the feature film, or embark on a variety of original story arcs in whatever order they choose when they choose.

Touching is good - Maximizing the capabilities of the Nintendo DS, players will experience Spider-Man's unique abilities as never before by controlling both red-suited and black-suited Spider-Man's movement and combat with a multitude of organic touch screen gestures and motions.

Become the Spider-Man of your dreams - Utilizing an in-depth hero points reward system, players can fully customize and upgrade Spider-Man maximizing his powers and abilities.

With liberty and multiplayer for all - A variety of local wireless multiplayer gameplay modes such as Brawler, Hot Potato, Target Practice, and Combo Challenge allow for two players to face off in head-to-head Spider-Man action.

I spy with my little eye - Within the game, various hidden collectibles are waiting to be discovered. Collecting items result in additional hero points and bonus materials.

Shoddy version2
Spider-Man 3: The Movie is an example of the kind of shoddy product development that will plague the Wii during its life. The only way to accurately describe this product is incomplete, the graphics are clearly unfinished and unpolished, the game physics are totally inadequate (frequently while fighting enemies they will become lodged in the floor making it impossible to complete your mission.) The textures are poor and alias badly while the lighting is actually blocky. It's obvious the game was rushed to meet the release date of the film and other games, very little of the promised exclusive Wii version is apparent. Aside from the control system it is identical to the equally poor PS2 version, that is a trimmed down, third rate hash of the PS3/360 game.
The gameplay is nothing to shout about, positively or negatively. It follows exactly the same pattern as the previous Spider-Man games with very little originality. In fact, features introduce in Spider-Man 2 have actually been removed. It is now impossible to interact with your surroundings in the same way, there is no feature for webbing up enemies and the combat system is clunky and simple.
The single selling point of this game is the Wiimote webswinging and in fairness, this is excellent. It's the best webswinging mechanic in any spider-man game so far. It's just a pity the rest is so shoddy.

Please, out of principle and to send developers the right message, don't buy this game.

A tarnish on the films, the license, and the console...1
Now I am a Spiderman fan and I loved the game of the second film (on ps2), however I have found this game is unplayable.

I'll start with the good bits:

1) my experience of the wii controls for swinging is that they are a good laugh once you get the hang of them.

2) J.K. Simmons, the best portrayal of any character from the film.

3) The black suit, a nice touch to have it on demand but at a price.

That is it for good bits, really there are only really 3 good things about this game.

Now for the bad:

1) the graphics are poor, now I know the wii is not as powerful as the other next gen consoles, but this is nowhere near the standard of the second game on ps2 or other wii games... spiderman disappears into wall he is climbing, buildings are bland and look like flat and drab blocks.

2) combat is difficult and unspecific, the range of moves is poor, and there is a lack of webbing up enemies.

4) The range of missions is very poor, go here collect this from goons, pass chemical weapons/ guitar/ pie shipment to random person on street.

5) The npcs are poorly acted with hammy accents and lines (and i mean really bad).

6) Finally and most importantly I have been through two copies of this game on the wii and they have both crashed during the first boss fight with Dr Conners/ The Lizard. I have tried restarting the game and playing on a friends console. As this mission is required to progress I am getting rid of my copy as I can't get any further.

In summary this is a real shame the game could have been so much better, I could even forgive some of the graphic/ gameplay issues if the story was more polished and it was actually possible to progress past the dr conners boss fight.

Spider-man 3 review.2
Let me start by saying that I am by no means an expert gamer. I have over the years had most of the major platforms, but must say that I have found that the Wii is the most fun.
This game is not fun!
In fact I found it so infuriating, it made me want to throw the Wii out of the window and go back to playing board games!
The web swinging control system is almost impossible to control; you constantly end up facing the wrong direction and I actually found it quicker to run and jump to get anywhere.
Fighting is no better, in the middle of a battle, you'll go to throw a punch and find yourself pinging off the top of a building, then have to wrestle the controls to get back...only to find that your time limit has expired and you have to start all over again.
Cut scenes are shoddy, with dialogue stopping in the middle of sentences, and the backgrounds are worse than the ps2 spider-man 2 game from some years back.
If you really have the time and patience to spend hours getting the controls right, Fine. If not I wouldn't waste your money!
