Amazon.co.uk Review
Tiesto sticks to his guns on a new album of original compositions that follows 2004's Just Be. Elements of Life strikes a satisfying balance between inventive vocal tracks and signature trance stormers: "Ten Seconds Before Sunrise," "Driving to Heaven," and "Bright Morning Star" all glow with the Dutchman's epic sound, one that is simultaneously haunting and uplifting. On the vocal side, the soaring energy of "Break My Fall," which features BT on vocals, will not disappoint fans of the duo's prior work on "Just Be" and other collaborations. To be sure, there are a number of less convincing pieces as well: "Dance4Life" with Faithless's Maxi Jazz falls flat, and the lyrics of "Can You Feel Me" prove that the genre's reputation for banal wordsmithing is not entirely undeserved. For the most part, however, these weaker moments are outweighed by the stronger tracks. Principal among these is undoubtedly "Sweet Things"--in which Charlotte Martin's vocal high-wire act is complemented by some exceptional programming--a track that is sure to receive a great many spins by DJs around the globe and yet further proof that when it comes to bringing alive the female voice for the dancefloor, Tiesto remains without equal. All in all, it's a safe bet that many of Tiesto's Elements will be making their way into DJ crates and MP3 players alike. --Brent Kallmer
CD Description
On 2007's ELEMENTS OF LIFE, club legend Tiesto offers up another set of original, dance-floor-friendly tracks. While the Dutch artist stays well within trance/house territory for most of the album, he branches into a slightly poppier soundon the pulsing "Sweet Things", which features an emotive vocal performance by Charlotte Martin, and hits a darker Underworld-like vein with the BT collaboration "Break My Fall".
Customer Reviews
This is what ive been waiting for 'BANGING'
Where shall i start, Please note i have only given this 4 stars as a first listen and believe me i have no doubt it will be up to 5 by the end of the week or even @ the end of the night.
You are safe to say Tiesto is back with a bang and if you liked the (Just be) album your going to love this. It is totally different to the In search of sunrise albums so if you liked them and are expecting the same from this album think again. Like the first single off the Just be album the first single starts the same and builds up to be a great opening tune and this just makes way for some great anthems from Vocal tunes to proper beats (a bit like TRAFFIC in the last album)you will find on a couple of tunes like that. The stand out tracks for me on the first couple of listens are Tracks 4,9.11 & 12. With track 12 like mentioned on another review it is one of the greatest dance anthams you will ever hear in a long while and brings Tiesto back to his best and you will not be dissapointed if you really do appreciate Tiesto's work.
To get the best out of these tunes and album you will need to wack up the volume and you know the rest and like me if you are going to see him in London in April if should be some hell of a show.
I love two songs on this CD.
I really like Tiesto's music, as a Trance Fan. This cd though only has 2 decent tracks. They are, however VERY good and I enjoy them a lot. They are tracks 11 and 12. 11 being Elements of Life, a great, mellow uplifting song and the last one, the Pirates of the Carribean trance mixed version. The guy's a legend just for making this song! LOVE IT!
Tiesto's new style?
I got this album yesterday and I can say that I'm still under impressions. This album is totally different from previous and I can't say it's trance, it 's some mixture of various styles. I can't say that all songs are amazing, but for sure with this release we got some excellent songs. The first song, "Ten seconds before sunrise", seems boring when you first listen to it, but actually it's quite relaxing. "Everything", the second track on the album, done with Jes, is for sure one of the best. Vocals are amazing thanks to Jes, but the first time I heard the song I said to myself: "Omg, I heard this song somewhere before!", because I recognized the melody starting after 5th minute. And I was right, the melody is completely the same as the one in "Dreaming [Lucid's 12" Club Mix]- BT" found on "In Search of Sunrise 2." I don't know if this was done intentionally or not, but melody is the same. Other songs: Do you feel me(closer to electro-house than to trance but very good), Carpe Noctum (uplifiting, some mixture of electro-house and trance, similar to Lethal Industry and Traffic in the uplifting sense so to say), Driving to Heaven (unfortunately I didn't like this one), Sweet Things(very good, but strange, sounds like rock :S, vocals like from those gothic songs), Bright Morningstar(Andy Moor -like style, and this is not the only one song where Tiesto uses sounds similar to those of Andy Moor), Break My Fall(similar to Love Comes Again, I think that the same guy is singing this one too, very good), In The Dark(this new style, strange because sometimes it sounds like rock), Dance4life(we all heard it before, nothing to say but Tiesto should cooperate with Faithless more in future :D), Elements of Life(not bad, nothing special), He's a Pirate(bonus track, heard it before, good). For sure, Tiesto is heading in some new direction with this album, and for now it's quite good, so I recommend this album.
