Purple at their best5
The connection between Deep Purple and Montreux is well known. However, this DVD proves that the band can be trully inspired by performing in one of the most prestigious festivals. The group's performance is stunning and with raw passion and professionalism at the same time. The DVD editing is superb and the camera close-ups to the band and the crowd are excellent. The unexpected jazzy intro of 'Smoke on the Water' is a one of the highlights as well as the 'Well-dressed guitar' performed by guitar virtuoso Steve Morse.A must for any Purple fan and for any rock concert fan in general!

Reminds me just how good the gig was...5
Ordered this as soon (within one minute) of getting the email from Amazon about it's impending release: released on Monday, here on Wednesday afternoon.

Then I watched it.

I was at the gig in July '06 - and it was awesome. But this really reminds me just what a fantastic show it was. That's all there is to say. The interviews add that extra touch - and now I realise how happy the band were that day, and why they were in such good form that evening.

Haven't found myself in the crowd yet...

Daniel.

Beware the title - it's not an HD DVD!4
This is NOT the HD DVD version, despite it's title saying it is. It is the regular 2-disk DVD version. Returned my copy and am awaiting the proper HD DVD version, which should be even more awesome!
