Editorial Reviews
CD Description
'Galore' is the debut album from Candian pop duo Dragonette. A mixture of pop and rock that references bands as diverseas Girls Aloud and The Cars, the album is a sparkling collection of 'nu-pop' classics-in-the-making. Includes the singles 'I Get Around' and 'Take It Like A Man'.
Customer Reviews
as pop albums go, this should be a classic
From the opening synths of I Get Around to the closing vocals of Marvellous, Galore rates as one of THE best pop albums of 2007. Deserving of a hell of a lot more recognition than they seem to be receiving, Dragonette have crafted the perfect mix of rock, pop and electro into a sassy, spunky and darn right filthy collection of tracks pleasing to the ear of almost anybody.
Stand-out tracks include the glamouous Black Limousine, in which Martina caresses the aural senses with a tale of the exploits of the classiest of hookers, and Jesus Doesn't Love Me....which rocks and synths its way into your cranium in a way that only drugs, sex, rock and roll can.
The only negative with this album is the exclusion of fantastic tracks such as Teacher, Teacher and Shock Box. But that little personal gripe aside, if you are looking for an album to rock your senses and make you tingle in that special way, Galore is the album to do just that.
A Glorious Reworking
What Scissor Sisters did for '70s rock Dragonette Does for the sounds of the '80s. Synths glisten and adorn vocalist Martina's surprisingly poignant and tough songs about hookers, stalkers, cheating lovers and guilt-ridden sinners. Dragonette doesn't simply copy '80s rock/pop conventions but rather updates and reimagines their winning formulas. I'm unable to single out any particular track as being exceptional since every song herein is a winner. Truly wonderful and highly recommended for those who appreciate potent pop in sharp 3 minute bursts.
Brilliant, fresh, sexy and fun! - Love it!
Saw Dragonette at PRIDE London, and spotted an upcoming CELEB in all of them. What a nice bunch as well! Specially the delicious Dan (whose blue eyes could melt butter)!
If you like Scissor Sisters sex-charged energy, Gwen Stefani's electro-funk, Snow Patrol's ripping guitars and electronica inspired beeps and swooshes... AND if you are ready for something fresh, new, powerfully sexy and lyrically dangerous - Dragonette is for you. If you are looking for tired formulaic pop - look elsewhere.
