Poor Larry hasn't aged well...
I purchased this on a mild nostalgia trip, having played my way through them when they were new.

Back in those days, schoolboy-like, I sniggered my way through the various double-entendres, not-so-subtle innuendoes, and occasional 'gross-out' moments. I thought it might be fun to relive those moments.

It wasn't. It really, really wasn't.

A lot about these games was new and cutting edge in their day. These days, they just can't cut it. You can uh, manipulate Larry either by the old text-adventure method of typing a verb and a noun (eg, 'Get batteries'), or by (very fiddly)point and click - but somehow it all feels like too much work to be fun.

Also, the games come complete with the original copy protection - generally this involves you matching a picture in the enclosed manual to one on the screen. However, this is also incredibly tedious, due to the quite poor reproduction of the original manuals - you'll get it wrong frustratingly often.

In short, much as I would love to write a rave review of this complete Larry collection, two stars is the best I can manage, and I suspect I may be being generous at that! On the other hand, the price is very low, so maybe two stars is about right.

If you feel the need of a smutty PC game, you could perhaps check out the much more recent Larry 3D adventure Magna Cum Laude. It's certainly more playable than these oldies.
