Stupendous DVD.
You wouldn't think it would be possible to improve on the excellent Hits And Misses DVD, but somehow WWE have found a way to do it. Since 2003, Mick Foley has made several returns to have some excellent matches, and as such Hits And Misses, sadly became out of date. However, let's look at the original two discs before we get to that.
Partly handpicked by Mick Foley himself, partly by others apparently, the Hits And Misses DVD has most of Foley's greatest ever matches and a few that are less so to boot, living up to its name well. Without doubt the best thing to come out of the purchase of WCW and ECW by the WWE is that DVDs like this can be released, as well as a match from Smoking Mountain Wrestling to boot. You get - among others - the match with Vader so brutal that it was edited for TV, which includes a moment where you can hear Foley's nose break; some of Foley's excellent matches in ECW as a WCW-loving heel; his winning the WWF world championship for the first time from The Rock on RAW, and most importantly, his infamous match with Undertaker in 1998.
The new bonus disc includes four matches which have taken place since Foley's sporadic returns of 2004 onwards. Three of them are widely regarded as being among his greatest matches ever, and one of them is amazing to see. His 2004 Backlash effort against Randy Orton is a truly excellent match, considered by Foley his greatest match; his Wrestlemania 22 match with Edge is of an extremely high standard; his tag team match with Edge against Terry Funk and Dreamer at One Night Stand 2006 truly captures the spirit of ECW; and finally, his 2006 I Quit match against Ric Flair is a match we never thought we'd see.
As good as the matches all are, the extras make the entire thing even better. You get a handful of full matches as special features, and these include his Street Fight with Sting which Foley considered for many years to be his best match; a rematch against Sabu told in detail in his book and commentated on here to hilarious effect by him and Coach; and most interestingly, his second ever match where the Dynamite Kid and Davey Boy Smith destroy him on WWF television; and this is in addition to the countless other special features of varying interest, hilarity and curiosity.
The third disc has the added bonus of alternative commentaries by Joey Styles and Foley himself. They truly deserve a disc of their own, as they are pure comedy gold, as Foley makes several hilarious observations ('This is the least hardcore moment in the match because my reaction when this happens is "OH MY HAIR!!" '), him and Styles make numerous jokes at the expense of themselves, others and Vince McMahon and they camraderie is truly refreshing and entertaining.
All in all, an absolutely stupendous three-disc set, which is absolutely worth buying again if you already have the two-disc version.
