Quality fighting game!
This game will keep you entertained for hours, its very easy to get used to and an easy 1000 gamerscore points!
But the only thing that was wrong with this game was the online play.
If you are beating your opponent online they can just quit like a bad looser and it doesnt affect there record, this is totally wrong and if they bring out another Virtua Fighter they must correct this and let the quitters get beat like real fighters!
All in all Virtua Fighter 5 is a quality game and will provide you with many hours of great fighting game play.
Online Exploit!
VF 5 would of got 5 stars easily if weren't for the fact that you can actually forfeit a ranked online match without PENALTY!
Unlike Dead Or Alive 4 or Ultimate Dead Or Alive VF5 does not reward the player who hasn't forfeit the fight with a win and so unfortunately the player who has forfeit the match leaves with their win and loss record unintact, this is a green light for anyone who wants to inflate their rank and gain a nice winning ratio without actually gaining it by getting beat and learning from their mistakes!
Hopefully Sega and Microsoft can sort this out with a patch or update...
Virtua Fighter does a 360!
after almost one year on from the ps3 release, Sega really has done the 360 proud by at last bringing their flagship fighter to Microsoft's current gen console.
Don't expect this to be a straightforward port of the ps3 version. This is based from the current arcade version C (while the ps3 version is based on the version B). It's basically minor adjustments to some characters moves that effect how the game plays.
although everything looks shiny and almost plastic-like the graphics are amazing (especially if you have HDMI or VGA) and the music is great too. Voices are crisp although they are almost embarrassing to hear each characters taunts! The sound effects have a strange retro-like quality at the menu..
The main selling point for the 360 version is for online battles which you can play against people from USA, Europe to Japan and Asia!
Also the quest mode has many more items for you to unlock and dress your favourite characters.
My only gripe is that loading times seem a bit long for a fighting game but thats it!
For beginners try learning with Jacky, Sarah, Lei Fei, Brad or Pai (as these are pretty easy to pick up but learning everything will take a while)!!
Some arenas have walls while others have ring outs.. if you wanna play cheap you gotta try and knock your opponent out of the ring.. if you fight in a walled arena try and corner them against the wall to either unleash wall attacks or pummel them into submission!
Also when you learn to do floating combos you will need to learn that characters fall into the light or heavy category.. which means certain combos you use on light characters (ie sarah, pai, aoi, lion etc) will not work on heavier characters like wolf, jeffrey etc as they will fall quicker so you need to work out other tactics!
Virtua Fighter 3 is an amazing game but it's not for everyone. Like all the Virtua Fighter games there is a steep learning curve and the 360 joypad (you can use either the digital pad or the analogue) takes a while to get used too and even then it feels slightly clunky but if you gonna complain then get the hori fighting stick!!
Virtua Fighter has always catered for the hardcore but that don't mean for a beginner to the series that you walk away.. well you can download from the leaderboards other peoples replays and see how they play and so that should give you ideas to combo moves.. Although the hard part will be learning them!
Overall please buy this game! Don't be put off by the learning curve.. spend some time learning it and you will be rewarded with an incredible deep fighting game
