Good for some...
Just a little info on the product itself before i say any more on it.
The picture on my display would leave you to believe that it is actually a sort of grey colour however it is gloss black to match the ps3.
The fans are quiet and barely noticeable and do seem to turn enough that it would cool your ps3. The stand is rather handy, it has a power button at the front of the unit which has a blue LED under it, making the unit look that little bit better.
The whole thing works simply by popping your ps3 into the stand, Clipping the fan to the top and connecting the usb cable, which is attached to the fan, into one of the free usb slots on the ps3...This is where it went wrong for me!
The Usb cable does not reach either of the usb slots, rendering the whole thing useless. On discovering this i searched the web and found a few forums with people having the same issue. The fan unit is a old design, and subsequently made for the older versions of the ps3 ie 60gig and 20gig so my 40gig model was out of luck.
So to sum this one up, do not buy this if you have a 40 gig version unless of course you have a usb hub which can be used with a extension or you just want the nice stand.
Hope this helped.
*NOTE*
I wrote to Amazon about the lack of or misleading information given with this product so hopefully they will amend this.
It works... for a couple of weeks only!!!
Well the base is still there, but the fan!!!
It stops after 2 weeks. It's cheap for a reason. It works fine but won't last.
You've been warned
rip off
i bought this cooling fan in jan and only 3months later its broken. when it did work it didn't really lower the temperature of my ps3. it's poorly built and makes too much noise. not vaule for money.
