Product Description

Clarkson's third full-length represents her biggest push for career and artistic control. Her crack studio band provides rock punch, and there is a plethora of studio tricks that give the album an extra layer of sonic muscle, enhancing itsangsty vibe. While there's no one track that strikes gold quite like her bubblegum anthem 'Since U Been Gone', 'My December' is certainly Clarkson's most ambitious and challengingalbum to date.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk
Judging by the themes of anger and betrayal that dominate Kelly Clarkson's third disc, My December, perhaps 'Jagged Little Idol' would have been a more telling title. According to interviews, the massively successful artist wanted more creative control with her music going forward; as a result, unlike her previous CDs, Clarkson contributes as a songwriter on every track. The final product is not nearly as catchy as Breakaway, but is far more introspective and honest. My December's overall sound brings a harder musical style than fans might expect, with acerbic lyrics to match; the disc's first single "Never Again"--a dark rock song slamming her ex-boyfriend--is certainly a tip-off. The compelling chorus of "Hole" finds Clarkson singing "There's a hole/inside of me/it's so damn cold/slowly killing me" over a melody that is far more Tool than top-40. "Haunted" and "Judas" are wrought-over tracks that veer into Evanescence territory, while the wonderfully sparse "Maybe" is a highlight within which Clarkson's pleading voice is perfectly showcased. My December's final listed track, "Irvine" (prior to the hidden bluesy acoustic ballad "Chivas") sounds far more Cat Power-meets-Corinne Bailey Rae than Clarkson, but it is certainly one of the most captivating songs on the disc, and serves as yet another reminder of just how versatile her voice is. Fans of her previous radio-friendly releases may well be divided on her new direction, but it appears to be the path Clarkson is likely to continue to travel. --Denise Sheppard

best out of the 35
i love this album!! the style of music suits kelly clarkson much better than the first two. all of the songs are so personel to kelly and i admire her for putting them on her album because each song gives a little insight into her life.
i recently heard her live at cardif CIA, and she is even more rockier live than on cd and i absolutly loved it.
i hope that her future albums are just as good as My December, because if they are she'll have an amazing career.

Awesome5
If your going to buy this get the special edition with 17 tracks. 2 dance versions of Never Again, but the other tracks you get are worth it. What can I say about her music? She's probably the best rock chick out there! I have nothing bad to day about her album. Each song I think is sublime and well pollished. Very hard to believe she came from America's X-Factor/Pop Idol. Buy it buy it buy it.

Clarkson flaws the industry with My December5
This album may be the most controversial this year, but it is also the best album this year. i first heard this when it leaked onto the internet back in June, and have fallen in love with it. i think the whole album telling a story from start to finis is cool and the fact that Clarkson co-wrote all the songs is definately what this industry is lacking, musicians who dont rely on swedish pop writers to give them their songs.

some people say that they were expecting a sequel to breakaway and that this album was rushed. well this album has been 2 yearsin the making and it is simply amazing. from the first single never again right through to the hidden track Chivas, and if you are lucky enough to get your hands on the I-Tunes and Japanese bonus track, Dirty Little Secret, Not Today and Fading, do so, because they top the album off perfectly.

overall i give this album 10/10 for sheer briliance. definately the best album and artist to ever come out of a reality TV show
