Amazon.co.uk Review

When the original version of Battalion Wars was released on the GameCube, the major criticism was that the game needed a better control system, which is exactly what the Wii version provides. This is not simply a battlefield strategy game where you position your planes, tanks, and ships and then watch the results. Here you can take direct control of your weaponry to affect the outcome. Battalion Wars 2 still requires plenty of thought amidst the shoot ‘em-up action, and there’s even an online multiplayer mode so you can play your friends.

ATTACK! Bazookas to the left tank! Flamers take care of those vets!5
Great little game we have here! Heard all the good reviews and thought I'd take th eplunge and get it! Not disappointed at all! easy controls, great graphics, funny looking units! Whilst in the think of battle getting use to the unit selection may get fiddly but easily mastered with practice! A good excuse to play more often methinks! Beware of those pesky aircrafts tho - fast and can bomb your group to oblivion!

Battalion wars 2-a brilliant and fun game!5
Battalion wars 2 is a strategy/ third person shooter genre and gets a lot less credit than it deserves. There are many different units you can control across 6 unique civilisations. The civilizations are all cheeky replicas of real countries, including the british, russians, americans, japanese and germans. All the units are very easy to control and fun to use across the campaign and online. U'll be fighting and using grunts, mortars, flamethrowers, bazookas, tanks, AA vechiles, subs. bombers fighters and all the like. Utilise every unit to your advantage and your s-ranks will start rolling in quickly.

Campaign 4/5: it'll last you a long while. Each level is particuarly short at about 10-15 mins long each but there are many levels for each civilisation. You don't have to work that strategically to win to begin with and it eases you in nicely. When you reach the last two campaigns however you need to start getting strategic and work hard to earn your way past those battles. Slightly short but excellent for the budding single player wii user.

Online 5/5: its not what i was expecting. You can't just choose a map, a side, a game type and score limit. There are many different pre-set levels across 3 game modes. Co-op, assault and skirmish. In co-op you work with someone to achieve common goals, in skirmish its a standard fight as you battle to control areas and facilities, in assault you have to defend or attack a enemy hq. Not all misssions will be open to you staright away. You will have to play the levels you've unlocked already to unlock new levels which gives a sense of purpose online.

All in all a fantastic online game and good for single players too!

One of the Wii's best games and it's made in the UK...5
I was unsure about buying this title but as it has received such great reviews in the gaming press I'd give it a try. Whilst this isn't the kind of game I'd normally play, I have to say I'm really impressed, from the opening mission that gently eases you into the game through to its multiplayer aspect it is superb. Visually it is one of the best on the Wii, with some fantastic water effects, with a large amount of animation on the screen at any one time. As a game that can be approached in so many different ways and on so many levels, Battalion Wars 2 should appeal to anyone who likes a bit of good old-fashioned strategic action. Instead of buying PDC Darts or Carnival games, invest in this, you won't be disappointed.
