Editorial Reviews

Synopsis
A twentysomething slacker (Justin Rice) moves to New York City to pursue his musical ambitions in the ironic indie comedy MUTUAL APPRECIATION, a followup to writer-director Andrew Bujalski's equally wry debut, FUNNY HA HA.

Customer Reviews

Great follow up to Funny Ha Ha5
More stylish than Bujalski's first effort, Funny Ha Ha, it nevertheless shares the same depth of understanding of relationships. Most talented of the 'Mumblecore' group of directors.

Another gem from America's hottest indie director5
Bujalski's follow up to his exciting debut, Funny Ha Ha, sees more of the same post-collegiate angst. However this is defintely a cooler film - set in New York, filmed in black and white and centring around a young singer-songwriter. It feels like it could be from any era. Can't wait to see what he will do next..

The best of the Mumblecore films4
Seems like a lot has been written about the 'Mumblecore' group or DIY generation. For me Bujalski is by far the strongest and suffers a bit by being lumped together with some of the others. His filmmaking is not of the handheld digicam variety - beautifully shot on 16mm with proper lighting etc. This is the stronger of his two films to date and looks amazing in black and white.
