Customer Reviews
This is what can happen when a record company get hold of an artist
The problem with reviews on websites such as Amazon is it only tends to attract 'great' or 'poor' reviews.
With this is mind 'World within a World' is a great disappointment. Raul Midon's first album, 'State of mind', was pure genius. I bought the first album immediately after seeing Raul live as the support for Jason Mraz a while back. That album is a showcase for a unique talented artist and I was so looking forward to more from Raul.
If you liked the first album i suggest you are going to be very disappointed in 'World Within a World'. Now this is only my suspicion but I suspect 'World Within a World' is a perfect example of what a record company can do to an artist, even such a talented and unique artist as Raul Midon. This smacks of an album that's been put in place to sell for the record company rather than reflect the artist,
Gone from 'World Within a World' is most of the evidence of Raul's acoustic guitar work and in it's place is a bunch of quite mediocre tunes. If you like lightweight Stevie Wonder tunes you'll like 'World Within a World' but fans who tunes into Raul on the back of the first album probably won't.
