Customer Reviews

Works for me5
I was a bit wary about purchasing one of these optical splitters. I required it to share my single optical input on my amplifier with both my xbox and my dvd player. I'd seen reviews claiming that I would need an optical switch for this purpose, which were both more expensive and would mean that I would have to manually switch the sources as and when required. Apparently these splitters were only for sending one source to multiple outputs, so one xbox to two different amps. Who would want to do that? Anyhow, I couldn't see why a splitter wouldn't work both ways (i.e. two devices to a single amp), so I bought one anyway. It works! Nuff said. Obviously if you have two sources on at once, you get a jumbled output, but I'm never going to be watching a dvd at the same time as using the xbox, so it's never going to be a problem.

With this splitter you also get two optical cables, which is a real bargain. They are of a lower build quality than what you might normally purchase, but they perform just as well as the ridiculously expensive one I bought from Currys!

Great Item with only one small problem3
I bought this item to link up xbox and sky plus box to my amp. Works fine on the sky plus box but not the xbox. The sky plus box contantly sends a signal out of its optical port even on standby so this interfers with the xbox signal. Don't buy unless you have two sources that turn off completely.

Cheap and cheerfull3
I wanted a cheap as chips way of attaching my Xbox 360 and my Sky HD box up to my amp (which only has one optical input) without the need to keep plugging in and unplugging cables.

With the included optical cables, this was the perfect product. So long as you're not expecting anything other than a plastic splitter casing and relatively fragile feeling optical leads, then this is perfect for the job.

The only note of caution is that there is no way to choose which optical input is selected. Therefore, in my case I need to make sure that the sky box is on standby before powering up the Xbox (and visa versa) otherwise the amp gets confused with 2 signals coming down the cable simultaneously. I would probably choose a product that lets you select the input if I hadn't already got this product.
