Amazon.co.uk Review
The very first Splinter Cell game started off as a timed Xbox exclusive, so it’s not such a surprise to find the series returning its roots with this Xbox 360 (and PC) only iteration. Following on directly from the events of Double Agent, the story finds a 53 year old Sam Fisher coming out of retirement to save his old friend Anna Grimsdottir and ultimately end up as a wanted fugitive by his own former agency. It’s not just the story that takes an abrupt about turn either, because most of the game takes place within various major world cities, with crowds of people being Sam greatest source of cover. People will notice him acting suspiciously though, so it’s not a foolproof hiding spot.
Because he doesn’t work for The Third Echelon anymore Sam no longer has access to all the fancy high tech equipment he used to. To make up for this he’s gained a special kind of spider-sense that lets him recognise police or G-men automatically. If he runs low on weaponry he can always steal guns and equipment from them, but what the game really encourages is for you to use the environment around you. Almost everything in the game, from a piece of paper to a park bench, can be interacted with and used either as a weapon or a means to block off doors or access new areas. Some games never evolve beyond their initial premise, but that’s not a fault Splinter Cell could ever be convicted of.

Manufacturer's Description
You are a fugitive and you’re being ruthlessly hunted by the very government you once served. The key to your survival is to improvise, adapt and overcome.
Experience original game play based on improvisation where your environment becomes your weapon. You need to react to changing situations and use the environment and the crowds around you to create diversions and deter your enemies.
Splinter Cell Conviction will deliver an adrenaline rush of game play with blood-pumping chase sequences, close combat and intense gun battles. To survive, build an underground network of allies who will help you obtain hi-tech gadgets and stay one step ahead of your pursuers as you struggle to unmask the forces that want you dead.

He's Back
The splinter cell siries has been good and has improved over time, since the first game, visuals, gameplay and AI.
I was surprised as a lot of people that its not focusing on stealth as the other games have. But hopefully that wont be a bad thing.
Ive given it 3 stars because i have no conclusion about it and the fact that it hasnt been released yet.
Dont you read the mags i do?
Disclamer: This is not a reveiw (DUH! it isn't out yet)
All this about it being assassins creed all over again is bull! While Ubi may have made it so that it takes advantage of the (in my opinion excellent) chase engine used in assassins creed doesn't meen it will not have that classic splinter cell feel. A point to be made also, The evaision of police in central park is only *PART* of the game, according to the mags I have read there will also be the good old fashioned shadow hugging game play of the originals. Like i said this is not a reveiw of the game, I own assassins creed and so wish to sever the false connections made by other die hard fans.
And so i raise my night vision goggles to splinter cell and salute its un faltering uniqueness!
assasins creed?
I thought this game was suppost to be out this year oh well it does look pretty good and is kind of like assasins creed maybe they will do a better job. I hope they will anyway
