Synopsis
Own every episode of every series in this complete collection of Keeping Up Appearances.

The lady of the house, Hyacinth Buckett has turned being a snob into an art form. Unfortunately her surname – it’s pronounced Bouquet, don’t you know - and her family, don’t help. Her long - suffering husband, Richard, keeps his head down and does his best to live with her domineering ways. But Hyacinth’s a termined lady, with one mission in life - to impress.

So, come in and join them in the drawing room for a nice cup of Darjeeling - the bone china’s ready and waiting. But whatever you do, don’t brush up against the walls; she hates people brushing up against her walls...

Against the Odds5
Script writer Roy Clarke uses a very productive formula for this hilarious BBC situation comedy. In opposition to a middle-class housewife obsessed with maintaining what she deems to be the highest levels of good taste and genteel behaviour are her relatives: scruffy, deviant, senile, unambitious, bone lazy, and flirtatious. Of course, she cannot prevail against such heavy odds, but she is never deterred from keeping up appearances. Never, for example, will she admit that her surname, Bucket, should not be pronounced "Bouquet". Thus there is not only enormous comic potential in the individual characters exemplifying this formula, there is also the fun of seeing Hyacinth Bucket's efforts bringing her to one disaster after another.
Patricia Routledge, already in her early 60s, plays the zealous Hyacinth Bucket with enormous energy. Although Hyacinth is a monster and although her relatives are walking inadequacies, they all endear themselves to the viewers. Most episodes are closely packed with entertaining material. My favourite is one from the third series, by which time other script writers had taken over from Roy Clarke. In it, almost all the characters relocate to the country cottage of Hyacinth's sister Violet, and join at the end in a hilarious Indian file dance around the garden.

Hilarious!5
I can still watch any of the episodes and still find them hilarious even 15 or more years since i first saw them on BBC1, i often think that since other BBC comedies have returned for a one off such as "To the Manor Born", it would be great to see a new episode of Keeping Up appearences. But it wouldn't be the same as sadly Mary Millar who played Rose tragically passed away. Buy this set for a box of laughs it has all the christmas specials, one of which i had totally forgot about so was a real treat to watch. Plus even though the series' are often shown on UKGold you won't have to put up with the annoyingly and ridiculousy long advert breaks!

A candlelight dinner with the Lady of the House5
Well we all know what to expect: hilarious scenes and a great laugh.

"Keeping Up Appearances" always was and will remain one of my favourite comedies. Hyacinth, Onslow, Daisy, Rose and all the other characters in that comedy are household names watch these DVDs sitting on a settee which is not the exact replica of one standing in Sandringham House, with a proper shirt on (no Onslow' s way of dressing) and no cans of beer.... you know what I mean!!

Great that the DVD is out. Lots of laugh is guaranteed!!!!
