Pretty Fast
I did a recent upgrade on my home PC from a P3.2 HT to one of these. There is just no comparrison in terms of raw processing speed. 4 actual processing cores, each running at 2.66 Ghz lots of level 2 cache on the chip and a front side bus of 1066 MHz. If you get the retail boxed version then it comes with the intel standard cooling heat sync and fan, which can be easily replaced for a different one, in fact you may have trouble finding the chip in the massive package!

Make sure that your motherboard supports both the chip type and the FSB speed, stick in loads of RAM and then run it with a 64 bit operating system for the fastest processing speed you will have seen. There are faster processors out there, but in terms of bangs for your buck this takes an awful lot of beating!
