Editorial Reviews
Evening Standard, (Simon Broughton), September 29, 2007
(4 stars) Shantel's band includes some first-class Balkan musicians...his real gift is generating a party and not taking himself too seriously.
Songlines, (Jane Cornwell), November 2007
(4 stars) The impossibly catchy title-track arrives on a wave of horns, clarinets, drums and general insouciance.
Evening Standard, (2008 Preview), January 4, 2008
Shantel has assembled his own orchestra to create the perfect ingredients for a night or exuberant, Balkan craziness.
Customer Reviews
Marvellous
Fantastic club / Balkan pop from, I presume, Shantel's own band, rather than collaborations with many other artists on his Bucovina CDs. If you don't find yourself grooving along to this you must be dead. Very accessible to those who have not heard this kind of music providing you are not narrow minded in your tastes.
Amazing work
For those who don't know anything about gypsy music I think that Shantel in general (and this CD in particular) are a great way to start discovering gypsy music.
Shantel has been able to collect a variety of music around the balkans and mixed it all in one CD while keeping intact the initial sound.
This CD will make you move and dance.
Very nice melodies.
I rate this CD with a 5 and I recommend it to all.
Disko partizani
I saw shantel and the Boucovina Orkestra for the first time last summer at WOMAD festival UK
The fusion of the Balkan sounds with reggae and dub was just magic and the tent with 3.500 othre thought the same, it was banging just great craic
I also bought Buckovina club Vol 1 and 2 but thats more of an acquired pure balkan taste
