Customer Reviews

Hassle-free protection5
I've used Mcafee for five years or so now and bought this 3 user edition to upgrade the protection on two machines and to install on one new one. After a brief (and painful) flirt with Norton I didn't look anywhere else. Provided previous security software is uninstalled first this product proved to be a breeze. It has loaded onto XP from the CD with no issues and onto Vista via the CD supplemented by the internet link, in a similarly easy fashion. Once installed it updated iteself with no problems and just got on with the job. As far as I am concerned this is a great product which provides brilliant value. I particularly like the 'site advisor' feature which helps you to decide whether to visit a particular site after using a search engine.

Dirty Tricks2
McAfee have recently introduced AUTOMATIC RENEWAL. It sounds harmless enough, but what that means is, without telling you first, or informing you via email, you are 'opted-in' to this new service, which debits your bank account for cover renewal well in advance.

Basically, they take money from your account without your permission or consent, using your card details they have on record. Not only that, but you can't cancel the automatic renewal service from your online McAfee account; no, you have to contact Customer Services to get it taken off.

There are many people out there who's bank account will be tipped into an overdraft situation with this little McAfee trick, and the banks will then charge people for going overdrawn with their accounts, and all because McAfee think it's fine to take money from peoples accounts without permission, and opting them into something that should legally be agreed to first.

Bottom line - McAfee gives great protection with it's software, but this latest stunt proves that they can act just as badly and dishonestly as the people online they are trying to protect you from. Shame on you, McAfee

More than just anti-virus protection4
McAfee produce one of the better anti-virus packages on the market, this suite of tools not only includes this great engine but also provides a software firewall and family protection from unwanted content. O.K. that is what they claim but does it work, well in a nutshell yes it does. The software firewall is superior to the basic one supplied by Microsoft but is nowhere near as capable as a correctly configured Hardware firewall. The content filtering is about as effective as they come, but with patience and time spent configuring it; it can be useful.
The biggest benefit it brings is its ease of use; everything is managed via a series of wizards making it quick and simple to configure.
