High Performance Universal I/O with Data Rates up to and exceeding 400 Mbps, designed around Plug and Play and Hot Swap technologies, the IEEE 1394 port is used to handle Bandwidth intensive fast serial devices such as Digital Video Camcorders, High Resolution Digital Cameras, HDTV, Set-Top Boxes, Hard Disks, DVD-ROM Drives, Printers and Scanners. Firewire also supports compressed / uncompressed video support.

The IEEE 1394 â€" 1995 Standard provides for half-duplex data transmission at 100, 200 and 400 Mbps. Up to 63 devices may be connected on a single bus segment, but bus segments may be bridged together, making it possible to connect many multiples of 63 devices.

    For people that are wanting to buy a cable from the high street. DO NOT. Simply because, have you seen how cheap this little gem is!? This is quite literally pocket money at best, and it's no frills to cut down costs, but then again, why would you expect flash packing on 1. something so cheap, and 2. On a damn cable!? It's a cable, so it dosent exactly have to be cosmetically pleasing does it!?

    Moreover, it would have been probably in the exact same packaging conditions as what Maplins would have supplied me but with the hefty price tag of say £10. Which equates to more than 2.5% the price on here. Just goes to show how much profit they make on them, eh? It's certainly max value alright...

    To add insult to injury, FREE DELIVERY AS WELL. Oh my cupcakes, for those that have firewire camcorders or otherwise, you must buy this lead with utmost importancy. Also look at the lengths: 2m! Thats bigger than me! So there will be no problems stretch the lead from my enclosed computer space onto my desk, or to reach my bed from the back of the computer. Cheap cheap cheap!

    I mean the cable actually works, but the connectors are slightly out of spec: it's pretty difficult to get any of the connectors (especially the little one) into the sockets as the size is just ever so slightly off.

    I'd buy something else, risking damage on the actual sockets in your computer and the device you're plugging in ain't cool.
