Customer Reviews

Funky & Fresh4
I received this compilation album as a present and was surprised at the number of quality songs on here -

theres a good blend of old and new; fresh songs with a funky r&b vibe like the catchy Big Brovaz 'Favourite Things' and the Wayne Wonder summer classic 'No Letting Go' - good for chilling to! alongside the old favourites Gangsta's Paradise, The Magic Number and Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince's Summertime.

Only one or two dodgy tracks on here - like Jaheim, Tweet and Shola Ama.

Although it is more r&b pop than 'street beats', there's still a good mix, most of the songs on here will get you up and dancing!!! Brilliant for getting ready for a night out with your mates!

Pure R&B, urbane and essential.5
"Oh, not another R&B compilation!" I hear you say. Well, you'd only be half right.

Yes this CD is undeniably an R&B compilation, an unmixed one, and as such it showcases a mixture of new "hot street beats" with some classic R&B, with just the usual hint of expletives to give it that certain sass.

The new tunes include Lil' Kim, Lil' Mo, Big Brovaz, Sean Paul and Wayne Wonder, the divine Missy Elliott with that remix of Gossip Folks (given the Parental Advisory sticker it's was a shame Warners hadn't the guts to put the very naughty and very funny 12"-remix here) and the oh-so-infectious Mr Reds vs. DJ Scribble. Other recent chart hits include Mis-Teeq, Ms. Dynamite and Punjabi MC and the US R&B smash from Jaheim.

But what really makes this an "essential" selection, is the glorious feast of oldies from the likes of Sugarhill Gang (only the 5-minute edit), De La Soul, Mystikal, Fugees, P!nk, TLC, En Vogue, the original "Ain't Nobody" from Rufus and Chaka Khan and a "Bootylicious" track to close CD 1.

It was also nice of Warners to close the album with one of the most-heartfelt sentiments in "Miss You", which could be certainly dedicated to the much-missed Aaliyah - one of the stand-out tracks on what is virtually a whole CD full of them.

In short this is a very, very good album that only improves with listening, and one that is essential for replacing those old worn-out 45's or fave LP tracks. More please Warners.
