Customer Reviews
"Let's pretend for a moment that we have never loved before"
Unlike many other reviewers of this album, I had not discovered Terra Naomi through YouTube; I stumbled across her whilst viewing a ListMania on Amazon. After reading the comments by customers, almost all of which said it was a fantastic album, I decided to go ahead and buy it. Having now had UNDER THE INFLUENCE for a few weeks, I can honestly say that this is one of the best CDs that I own.
"Say it's Possible", the opening track is brilliant. Great lyrics and absolutely brilliant music - it makes you want to join in and sets a great tone for the album.
"Not Sorry", the second track is actually my favourite. It is a devilishly good song about feeling an intense attraction to someone who is already in a relationship, but not caring about the other person. Sounds horrible, but again, the music is so good it will have you singing along.
There are also songs which show the more rocky side to Terra Naomi - for example "I'm Happy" and "Up Here". For those quieter moments there are also some that turn the pace down. "Never Quite Discussed" and "Flesh for your Bones" are prime examples of this.
What I love about this album is that Terra Naomi has written all of her songs - something that is becoming more of a rarity these days - and the lyrics are intelligent, funny, moving and honest. For anyone who appreciates good music by a talented singer/songwriter, you cannot go wrong with UNDER THE INFLUENCE. Highly recommended.
Amazing, fresh new talent.
I saw Terra Naomi live supporting the Fray and she caught our attention as soon as we walked through the door, which not many support bands do. Her voice and the band were amazing live. As soon as we got home we bought the album. Track 3 "up here" reminds me slightly of Alanis Morissette, but even though I say that she in undoubtly unique. This album is a definate buy.
Terra Naomi - amazing voice, great writing!
I came across Terra Naomi on MySpace and then YouTube. I bought her early album and loved it. I then heard she had been signed to a major label and worried that it would change her... but fortunately I was wrong and the remixes compliment her wonderful voice and song writing. This is a must have album and I am playing it constantly at the moment. She is also quite amazing live.... so accomplished in every way. Buy this now!
