Good features let down by poor design
The joystick control, controlling station selection, tuning, and volume was irritating. It sems to have been designed for people used to playing with handheld video games. I suspect the designers are under 25. The presets are also irritating and pretty pointless. They are difficult to set up, and you have to go through a scrolling procedure to access them, just as you do when you access DAB stations by name. There are no preset buttons. The speaker is small and the sound is tinny. If the radio were just a little larger it could have had a better quality speaker.
The poor design is a great shame because it has very useful features like the included charge pack, which lasts for up to 40 hours. It also has a useful travel lock.
Regrettably, 'UK Designed' is not always a plus point.
It Does What It Says On The Tin!
It's a great little radio with very good DAB and FM reception. The small speaker is not brilliant but I expected that. If I use my Sony headphones or plug it into an external amp it's great.
The FM reception is better than the other radios in the house. It's easy to use. The DAB reception cannot be faulted.
The only major annoyance is that it wasn't delivered with a suitcase full of used ten pound notes :-D
Can't fault the radio.
First Class product
I have had this now for a week and it is very good indeed. Reception is first class on both FM and DAB. I find all the controls easy to use and with excellent intuitive function. This tiny radio feels anything but insubstantial with a solid feel, a quality matt ruberised rear panel/stand; chromed controls and a brushed aluminium front panel. Have used it plugged into my hi fi; good quality active PC stereo speakers and headphones and it gave me very high quality reception that was entirely free from interference in an area renown for this. The built in speaker performs well for its small size. Battery life is very reasonable and if recharged when still about a quarter full should last for years yet even then the radio could still be used with the mains adaptor that is included.
The lettering on the front panel is not to my taste but then I am a bit fussy about artistic design.
